Christopher Bukovsky Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 11, 2006.
Christopher Bukovsky, 60, of Delhi, a noted local artist and photographer, died un-expectedly early Monday, July 3, 2006, at O'Connor Hospital in Delhi. The cause of death was a heart attack.
Chris, as he was called, was born Jan. 31, 1946, in Brooklyn and lived for the past 10 years in Delhi.
He was particularly well-known for his highly detailed and meticulously crafted woodcarvings of birds, fish and other wildlife. His works, which were acclaimed for their artistry and realism, were often exhibited in galleries and sought-after by collectors. He also created a variety of unique and personalized carved walking sticks.
In recent years, he became passionately interested in photography, specializing in shots of landscapes and wildlife. His photograph of Falls Mill recently appeared on the cover of the spring/summer 2006 issue of Catskill Country magazine. His work was also displayed at the Delaware County Fair.
He was also an avid fisherman, outdoorsman, bird watcher and motorcyclist. Locally he was actively involved in the Ice Cream Run For Kids Sake for several years. In his later years, he found friendship and fellowship as a Friend of Bill.
Chris was known for his exuberance, his humor and his generosity of spirit. Although he was well-known professionally and well liked locally, even his close friends know little about his early life. He occasionally talked about his experiences serving in the Marine Corps in Vietnam.
He is survived by his beloved son, Reilly McLarney, age 7, of Delhi; Reilly's sister, Caitlin McLarney and their mother, Kathy McLarney; and four children by former marriages, Christo-pher, Ashley, Missy and April. His many friends and admirers include Adam Billek of Bloom-ville, who is handling his final arrangements.
There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2006, at St. John's Episcopal Church, Main Street, Delhi. Photographs and woodcarvings by Chris will be on display, and friends are encouraged to bring any of Chris's artwork they own. Each piece will be photo-graphed for a collection to give to his son, Reilly, as a remembrance.

Dad I remember the last day I saw you, as if it were yesterday. It was just a couple days before Christmas. . I remember a week before that you telling me that we would have to say goodbye but not forever. I didn’t think it would be for 10 years long. I looked for you for those whole 10 years .I love you dad. Thankfully, I finally found you, and then you are taken away from me yet again. Why? Why did we only have a little bit of time now to get to know each other? I wanted you to walk me down the aisle. I wanted to show everyone my real father... The one I was looking for. But now your not here. Your in heaven looking down upon me. I still will not give up. I will still look for you. Until the day I die we will meet again. And then we will continue what we started... Thank you for everything you have done for me. For all the good memories Like that time for my birthday we went to that nice lake and I rowed the boat all the way across it. Or the times when we went fishing. Remember that boat I found? I think I still have i. Guess you can say i'm exactly like you. I even look like you. :) I love you and I hope you will be waiting there when it’s my turn. - Ashley

P.S Why don’t he ride? (Inside joke with dad)

I always thought of Chris as a 'character' of sorts. I never new what he might say. He was funny, and silly, some would say a bit 'rough around the edges'. Sometimes he wasn't even respectable! Often, when he talked, I couldn't decide whether to laugh or cringe! He loved life and lived life with exuberance and energy always. He was the one you needed to run into when you were down. He greeted every person like they were the single most important person in the world. Though I was not a close friend, you certainly would not have known by the big smile he greeted me with everytine we met. My prayers and condolences go out to his family and dear friends.

Dad, I really am gonna miss you, and I honestly wish that we could of patched things up you know. I will always remember you. I will remember all the good times we had. Till this very day I remember when you use to pick me up and take me out usually at the Lakehouse in richfield. This is a memory I keep dear to me. Everytime I do a piece of artwork I think about you. I know that you teached me well on doing what I love doing the best. I love you and I'm really sorry.

I am greatly saddened by the passing of this very dear friend of mine. On my darkest of days, Chris could always put a smile on my face and turn my tears into laughter. I will cherish the memories and the many phone calls. I will miss that amazing laugh and sense of humor. My condolences to family and friends. I wish I could be there on Saturday to say my last goodbye.

I will always remember Chris for his sense of humor and that crazy laugh of his....and the first time meeting Chris many years ago at the Delaware County Fair doing his wood creations. His free spirit and his love for nature....

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Kathy, Reilly, Caitlin, Adam and Janet, at this time of loss....the memories you will always have to treasure, and may they bring you some comfort at this time.

With much sympathy,
