COLLINS, CHRISTOPHER
20, of Wakefield, passed away on March 29, 2018. Chris' immense love for his family and friends will be felt forever. He was a caring, warm, remarkable son to Mark and Elizabeth (Roberts) Collins; younger brother to Jenna and Taylor; grandson to Randall and Margaret Collins and Sandra O'Brien and her partner Ed Colby. He also leaves behind many adoring uncles, aunts, cousins, and tremendous friends.
Chris was a student at Amherst College in Massachusetts and a graduate of South Kingstown High School in Wakefield.
Chris had a passion for music, baseball, and learning. He loved his dogs, playing the guitar and piano, hiking, climbing trees, the beach, getting coffee, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his bright smile and his warm, gentle nature. He was considerate, sincere, loving, and unselfish and gave completely of himself to others. He touched so many lives in a genuine and beautiful manner.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christopher Collins Memorial Fund, set up to shine a light on mental illness. Chris courageously battled anxiety and depression for several years, and it is important to him and his loved ones that the societal stigma of the disease is washed away, the illness' prevalence in our communities is recognized, and we learn to identify and care for those who may be suffering. Please send donations to Christopher Collins Memorial Fund, PO Box 5237, Wakefield, RI 02880.
Visiting hours will be held in the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory, SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road (Rt. 1A), Narragansett on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial in Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Road, Kingston will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the New Fernwood Cemetery, Kingston, followed by a reception back at the church.

The last encounter I had with Chris was during the summer of 2013 when we both played for the Rhode Island Rebels travel baseball team. Chris was truly a great kid with a huge heart. May God Bless Chris and his whole family. Heaven has gained a truly special angel.

I received the notice of your beautiful son's death through Amherst College. I understand what it is to lose a dearly beloved son, and I can sense the great loss you are experiencing and will go on to know even more deeply as the weeks wear on. Please be on the look out for something that you will recognize and that only you would know as a way of being comforted that your son loves you still and is trying to show you that he is fine. I'm sure he appreciates the work you are doing to help those who suffer from mental illness, especially depression and anxiety. May you be blessed and comforted as your mourn. Sending love from a fellow traveler in Maine. My precious musical Mark was killed at 25 in 1998. I understand some of what you are experiencing. You will find a way through this nightmare, and life will bring you synchronicities , adventure, mystery, surprises, meaning and you will continue to love your son in the here and now, and he, you!
With compassion,
Carol Woolman, Bar Harbor, ME

Chris was a soul who positively touched many others in his short life. His smile was contagious, and genuine. He was a talented individual, and that didnt go unnoticed. He was a classmate of mine, and I know that I can speak for most of his school mates when I say that Chris was truly kind, truly caring, and truly loved. My condolences go out to you as a family. He will never be forgotten, and will forever hold a place in the heartbeat of South Kingstown. Rest easy, Chris.

Dear Family, I didn't know Chris but it hurts all when someone has to fight every day for sunshine. What a handsome young man. I commend you all from not hiding from depression but seek ways to overcome. It is not fixable. We do not know each individual depth of depression but we can seek treatment, be kind, and we can have hope. Teach ourselves and others where to find joy. Today, I will hold a hand, sit by someone and bask in respect for your son's memory.

Sincerely,

Life long depression recipiate
