Hello Carole and family....I went to St Bernard's with Chris and graduated with him....i honestly didn't know him that well , but.....it is a small world....i know you as a customer and i know a dear friend of his- Michele- from our dogs playing together...i am sorry for the loss you all feel...it is a tragedy...peace to you all for healing....Sincerely...Mary Georgetti.....

My deepest sympathy to family and friends of Chris. I met Chris in seventh grade, and developed a close friendship that lasted until his untimely passing. I will always remember him dearly for his laughter, love for his dogs, and love for the ladies. May you rest in peace. You were my best friend.

To say that all who knew and loved Chris are in shock is an understatement.I knew Chris through my son Brian Straub as they were great friends. I considered myself as a surrogate Dad to Chris and treated and respected him as I did all my children. I was very proud of all his accomplishments and his teaching professional skills. Dear Carole, Richard and family,

I had the pleasure of attending both grammar school and high school with Chris, and he is part of so many of my fond and indelible memories of those days. Years later, we bumped into each other at the Groton Public Library where we were pleasantly surprised to discover we'd entered the same profession. We enjoyed more than a few laughs recalling our shared, occasional impatience with the school experience "back in the day," and appreciating the irony that we had both somehow "stumbled into" special education. What I remember most about that conversation, however, was the obvious pride and delight with which Chris spoke about the profession, his job at Waterford High, and most especially, his students. I hope that they, and you his family, will accept my heartfelt condolences on his passing.

After he had left waterford high and when i still had to go to events for my daughter I would still go say hi to u! i hope you are having a wonderful life up in the heavens as you well deserve it!

My condolences to Chris's family. I remember him from growing up on Baily Hill back when kids could safely just wander around. He was always a nice guy, quick to help a little girl who just scraped up her knee instead of laughing. RIP Chris!

I am very saddened to find out that Mr. Johnson has passed on. I was on the WHS swim team when he came on as assistant coach. He was a great mentor, and if you ever needed advice or an honest answer, he was the man to go to. He always had a smile on his face and truly enjoyed being a coach and teacher.

WOW, when i heard about this i was in total shock i didnt want to beleve it was you. Such an amazing person taken from us to soon. You were always so kind and in a good mood.. I remember when me and brett would come visit u almost everyday oo just sit and talk all period. Wwe all lost a wonderful man and it just wont b the same. I wish i saw u before u paased but in m memory and spirit. We miss u mr. Johnson and i qill look up at you as u look down on us R.I.P

I am so sorry for your loss, my Granddaughter was in his class at school and is very upset over his passing.

I'm still in shock about this. Mr. Johnson was always so youthful and in good spirits, I really cannot believe he has left us so soon. He was a great man who always wanted to help others and brighten their day. Although at first he knew nothing about swimming, he learned quick with the help of our team and was the one to go to when you needed advice or support. He was an awesome man and it is sad to see him gone so soon. I will always remember him as a friend and as a coach. One of my favorite memories of him was one time on the bus back from a meet, Mr. Arnold was not with us and we all were in good spirits joking around and whatnot and we were throwing apples out the bus. Instead of yelling at us, he joked around and had fun but then told us we had to cut it out haha. That is the way I will always remember him, even though he was an authority figure he was easy to get along with, understanding and fun. Rest in Peace Mr. Johnson, you will truely be missed by all.

We shared alot of fun times together throughout the years. Chris and I went to grammer school and college in Boston. We would get together and study at the NU library and they head out on the town for beers. Those were great times...Chris was always willing to help someone in need...as an educator that's your job but Chris was a natural. I'm happy for the times we shared athough I wish we could of had more..I know he is with Bob and his parents now. RIP my friend..

I would like express my deepest condolences to Chris's family. He was a dear friend of mine. I will miss him. He was like a brother to me. We shared a lot of fond memories. I will never forget you Chris. May God be with you.

I am personally very saddened about hearing about Mr. Johnson's passing. In short, in my experiences with him, he is one of my best memories of my years at Waterford High School.

I never had Mr. Johnson as an actual teacher. Rather, I knew him through my mother. She was a paraprofessional at WHS up until 2004, halfway through my Freshman year. She worked in the same department as Mr. Johnson, often in his classes, and I knew him before my time at WHS with his involvement with Mr. Arnold and the swim team. I volunteered as a timer for the swim team for my first year of HS and considered Mr. Johnson as one of my mentors, he always steered me in the right direction. I'll never forget always bumping into him in the halls, he always had a smile on his face that seemingly warmed the halls of the school. We always had nice conversations, he was always caring and asking about my mother, often with a joke or two thrown in. His warm heart and caring demeanor was always notable, and will never be forgotten. I'm sure I can speak for many people in saying that I will forever remember him as a teacher and a mentor.
