TMS won't be the same without CMJ. I love listening to TMS usually while driving to and from work, while at work and in the kitchen or in the garden at weekends! I'm only 35yrs old but my main reason for tuning in is to listen to the old school voices of CMJ and Blowers, they are genius! When CMJ wasn't on TMS this past year due to his illness it just didn't feel the same. His knowledge of the game, his wit,his endearing voice were missed so much. I hope this gives his family comfort knowing how much he will be missed by his readers,by his listeners. This summers test matches won't be the same. I will as ever tune and enjoy Aggers and Blowers in particular but for me it won't be the same without CMJ. Rest in peace.

More than your cricket knowledge or your marvellously descriptive use of words... As a teenager in 1978 listening to TMS, you taught me how to speak, have the demeanour and aspire to be.... a gentleman. You are and will be sorely missed.

A voice to warm you in the cold hours of an oversees tour and a voice to enrich a beautiful summer's day. Thank you CMJ, I will miss you.

My fondest memories of CMJ are the early hours of the morning listening to his wonderful description of our special game from some far off land. His use of the English language was unsurpassed and created the most memorable picture in ones mind of the game I have loved, played and watched for over 50 years.
Thank you Christopher you will be sorely missed.

The sound of summer, my childhood, and middle age. A wonderful voice and by all accounts a wonderful man. Listening to TMS will not be the same .

A true gentleman of cricket, I never met CMJ but he filled our radios with many happy hours of commentating and fun along side Aggers and the TMS team. CMJ you'll be missed for many a year by thousands of people who new you or heard your kind voice. RIP CMJ.

my tweet on hearing the news was - @Aggerscricket never met CMJ, said morning in passing at Lords (seeing how tall he was) but pass the tissues - feel like I've lost a friend.

Will be missed by myself and many other cricket fans across the world. Many a dreary passage of play would be lightened up by his musings and his words. RIP CMJ and thank you.

I once lay in bed in a miserable hotel in Hemel Hemstead. England were playing a test series in NZ, and play was called off for rain.
I'd been listening for some time when I realised the silliness of it - why not go to sleep?
The reason was that CMJ was talking and you simply couldn't turn CMJ off.
CMJ was brilliant, and will genuinely be missed.

Always sad to see a well loved, well recognised, legendary commentator leave the TMS team. CMJ was full of the joys of cricket and a true reflection of all the good things about the game. Another voice trails off the airways but will not be forgotten.

On a boundary somewhere, I hope that CMJ and Jonners are discussing batting averages, bowling line ups and the Ashes..over a glass of claret. The world has lost a true master with words. RIP CMJ.

What a superb wordsmith you were Christopher, and those wise words were for me some of thee definitive sounds of Summer. It was your impersonations and mimicry i'll miss most though. So sad you're gone, R.I.P. CMJ.

The voice of summer has joined Johnners and the Boil in a heavenly TMS line-up. CMJ's dry wit and detailed knowledge made him a perfect host for all forms of cricket. His painting of the picture over the airwaves and his inherent love of the game were unparalleled.

Christopher was the best cricket commentator in the world and the best writer. His wonderfully mellow voice epitomised all that is best about an English summer's day -warm sunshine, the smell of mown grass, the sound of bat on ball and the sight of an English country cottage next to a village green and the local church. I felt that he was my friend -like many other million cricket lovers. I was blessed to read his autobiography last year and, as soon as I finished it, I deliberately left it on the back shelf of my car so that people walking buy knew that I was a TRUE cricket lover -someone, like CMJ, who loves the great traditions and facts of a truly godly game. Christopher was a Godly man, a true, kind, loving Christian -obvious in the way he wrote and spoke. He was also fun.
His death has affected me more than any other person whom I have not known personally. I have a friend and former teaching colleague who did know him personally so I feel a little more sadness than most.
But, what a lovely person CMJ was. As a Christian, I know that I will see him again one day and the Lord will let me hear that wonderful voice again. It will happen because people like CMJ make it so clear that God will prevail and Heaven awaits His people. CMJ is truly one of those.
