Christopher Elliott Mullen

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Christopher Elliott Mullen on January 23, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on April 6, 1956, in Hickory, NC, Chris was the beloved son of William and Evelyn Mullen. Chris was a proud graduate of the University of Richmond, where he formed lifelong friendships that he treasured. He had a successful career in telecommunications, holding various positions across the globe, and was respected for his intelligence, dedication, and leadership. He was currently working for the DIT of Loudoun County with a team of people that he adored. Chris loved life and made the most of every moment. He enjoyed traveling and especially cherished his time in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where he and his family made lasting memories on their annual trips filled with joy, tradition, and laughter. Above all, Chris was devoted to his family. He deeply loved his children, Taylor Mullen ( Stacey ), Marisa Mullen (Sha ) , Callan Mullen, Ashley Warfield ( Christopher ), and Anthony Cooper ( Kelly ) as well as his beloved grandchildren, Wyatt, Olivia, Asher, Christian, Makenna and Chloe. His love for his wife, Tina Mullen, was boundless. Together, they shared a magical bond, and Chris found countless ways to show his devotion through thoughtful gestures and daily acts of love. Chris had many passions. He was an avid weightlifter,/ runner, a skilled cook, and a planner of unforgettable getaways. He enjoyed watching football, discussing the issues of the day, and staying active - activities that brought him joy and allowed him to connect with others. His expansive knowledge on a wide range of topics made him a lively and engaging conversationalist. Above all, Chris was deeply committed to helping others and always ready to offer support whenever it was needed. He was known for his genuine kindness in all circumstances. He is survived by his devoted wife, Dr.Tina Mullen, his children, his grandchildren, his brothers James Mullen and Paul Mullen, and his sisters Carla Mitchel and Elizabeth Mullen-Zehner and his sisters - in- law Andrea Vaughan ( Chuck ) and Juliana DeRosa ( Kent ).. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Evelyn Mullen, and his beloved eldest brother, William Mullen III. In his final year, Chris was surrounded by the compassionate care of the doctors and nurses who supported him during his brutal battle with cancer. He made sure to thank each and every person who helped him, and he was beloved by all who cared for him. We are deeply grateful for their kindness and dedication. **Special mention and thanks to the INOVA Oncology Team on the 41 N unit with whom he considered his family, Drs. Rajendra, Naini and Lauren Cianciaruso. Although Chris is no longer physically with us, his memory will live on in our hearts forever. We take comfort in knowing that he is now free from pain, his body restored, and waiting for us in heaven. His ashes will be scattered in the glistening waves of the Outer Banks - a place he loved - during a ceremony in June 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Chris's legacy of love, laughter, and living life to the fullest will continue to inspire all who knew him.
