Christopher Wilson Smith passed away on November 27, 2024. Born on August 17, 1952, in Denver, CO, he was the eldest of five children to Drs. Eugene and Katherine Smith.
Chris graduated from Pembroke Hill High School in 1970 and earned a degree in Political Science from Vassar College in 1974. He furthered his education with Master's Degrees in Business and Public Administration from the University of Kansas and a PhD in Economics and Finance from Indiana University. His career led him to a faculty position in Chicago before he returned to Kansas City, where he played a key role in developing international MBA programs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Katherine, and his brother, Scott. He is survived by Trish and his three children: Christopher, Cameron, and Elyse.
Chris will be remembered for his gentle and caring nature, quick wit, and playful sense of humor. Those who knew him best will cherish memories of his generosity of spirit, love of walking and poetry, and above all, his deep love for his children.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 11 E 40th St, Kansas City, MO 64111.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Do Good For Erin Foundation.
