Christopher D. "Chris" Welle, age 18 of Spring Hill, died Saturday, January 27, 2007 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis from injuries sustained in a car accident. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 31 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spring Hill with Father Marvin Enneking officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Patton-Schad Funeral Home in Melrose. St. Michael's Men's Society and the Paynesville Knights of Columbus will pray at 7:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 8 p.m. Tuesday evening. Christopher Welle was born November 22, 1988 in Melrose, Minnesota to Jim "Chico" and Kathy (Lieser) Welle. He attended Melrose High School where he was on the varsity baseball team and part of the graduating class of 2007. He was on the Spring Hill Legion Team and joined the Spring Hill Chargers. Chris was accepted at St. Cloud Technical College for land surveying. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spring Hill. Chris lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and baseball. He liked to putz with things and was very helpful on the family farm. Survivors include his parents, Jim "Chico" and Kathy Welle of Spring Hill; brothers, Kurt, Travis, and Derek all of Spring Hill; grandparents, Bernice Welle of Spring Hill and Ronald and Lucille Lieser of Lake Henry; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and special friend, Emily. Chris was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jim Welle on September 12, 2003. Serving as casket bearers will be Troy Gerding, Eric Gerding, Michael Schoenberg, Brad Terres, Paul Welle, Tony Meyer, Adam Wehlage, and Derek Worms. Serving as cross bearer will be Kelli Gerding and scripture bearer will be Samantha Rutten. Mass servers will be Eric Terres and Ross Welle. Gift bearers will be Sharon Schoenberg and Dave Gerding. Lector will be Tina Luke. Eucharistic Ministers will be Gerald Lieser and Ronald Lieser. Honorary bearers will be the Melrose Senior Class of 2007 and friends.
