Christopher Willett Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 2, 2024.
Christopher Lawrence Willett, known to his friends and family as Chris, was a beloved soul who brought joy and amusement to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Born on December 29, 1968, in San Mateo, California, Chris lived a vibrant life filled with music, laughter, and love.

Chris attended Sunnybrae and Baywood Elementary, Borel Middle School, and graduated from Aragon High School in the Class of 1987. He was an avid AYSO soccer and baseball player who cherished lifelong memories and friendships from his Little League team, The Indians.

Charismatic and optimistic, Chris had a deep passion for animals and a love for life. His adventures were often shared with his loyal dog, Red, who was never far from his side. He could frequently be found attending concerts and festivals, playing a mean air guitar and rocking out to his favorite bands. Most recently, Chris attended his first Rolling Stones concert – a bucket list item of his. And a Buckethead concert which "blew his mind". His enthusiasm was contagious, and his sense of humor always brought a smile to those around him.

Chris was a compassionate and caring person who touched the lives of many. His boundless cheerfulness and exuberance made everyone feel special and valued. He was always ready to offer a helping hand to those in need.

On August 6, 2024, Chris passed away peacefully in his sleep, leaving behind a rich legacy of love and laughter. He is survived by his mother, Suzanne Bruni Willett; father, Donald S. Willett; siblings, Donald R. Willett (Jennifer Evans) and Elise Willett; nephew, Donald J. Willett (Norma Rivera); great nephew Jon Fernando Willett; niece, Skylar Willett (Brandon Warren); great nephews Xander and Jaxon Warren; stepmother, Andrea Willett; stepbrother, Aaron Pike; his longtime partner, Theresa Cano; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A private celebration of Chris' life is being held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA in Chris's memory and in honor of his love for animals (https://phs-spca.org/donate/).

As we mourn the loss of Chris, who left us far too soon, we are reminded of the lyrics from Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynrd:

"If I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me? For I must be traveling on now, 'cause there's too many places I've got to see."

Chris will be forever remembered for his constant grin, big bear hugs, infectious laughter, compassionate and free spirit, and unwavering optimism. As we celebrate his life, let us also reflect on the lasting impact he had on all of us and cherish the blessing of his memories. Rest in peace, dear Chris-your legacy will live on in our hearts eternally.

I recently found out Chris passed away. God bless Chris and his family and friends. When Chris and I ran into each other, he always mentioned playing with Hot Wheels in my backyard when we were kids. I´ll always remember the hug we gave each other in downtown Burlingame one night. His spirit and inner child live on.

I remember with clarity the day Chris was born. We were all very happy and excited. The world became a better place. Adorable baby and little boy. Very active and so much enthusiasm! Chris was so happy and always loved life. His enthusiasm and bright smile always lit up a room. His laugh was infectious and made me laugh too. Always the jolly one with a really great sense of humor he did the best impersonations ever. And he was also very caring too. Chris adored his family.

Chris I will miss you so much~ we all will.
You are truly loved dear Chris~ always and forever.......

I went to Sunnybrae, Morel and Aragon with Chris. We played on the Indians together and that's the way I choose to remember Chris. Kids just having a blast at Trinta park carefree and not a worry in the world. Always a happy smile and a big hug. Ran into him over the years and still the same happy go lucky guy. Will miss that contagious laugh. RIP Brother.
