Christy Timberlake DeNova

(1955 -2007)

We have lost a wonderful mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend with the death of Christy Timberlake DeNova. Christy had been battling stomach cancer for 16 months. She was 51-years-old. Christy was born to Wayne and Christy Timberlake in College Station, Texas on July 8, 1955. She grew up in northeast Seattle and attended Laurelhurst Elementary School, Nathan Eckstein Junior High, and Roosevelt High School. She attended Stanford University and received a B.A. in Sociology, in 1977. She attended the University of Kentucky and received her M.S. in Clinical Nutrition in 1981. She worked as a registered dietician in the state of Washington. She married Thomas DeNova on July 8, 1989. On August 12, 1992 she was blessed with the birth of Christy Anna and later on June 18, 1994 with the birth of Thomas Alex. In 14 short years, Christy poured a lifetime of love into her children. She supported and celebrated all of their accomplishments. She gave them the greatest gift of all, her selfless and unconditional love. Her activities away from home were an extension of her love for her children, as a substitute teacher, a volunteer for Treehouse, Seattle Junior League, and an involved parent in the Blue Ridge Community. Christy loved to garden and was a docent at the Dunn Gardens. She loved to ski. Christy was happiest at her children's events, extended family gatherings, and skiing with her children. Simple things in life brought Christy joy. She was unpretentious and genuine. Christy leaves a legacy of kindness. A Service will be held at the Seattle Golf Club on March 16 at 3:00 p.m. with a Reception following. The families ask that you plant a tree in memory of Christy or make a donation to: Treehouse Donations, 2100 - 24th Avenue South, Suite 200, Seattle, WA 98144, [email protected]; or, The American Cancer Society.

We were lucky enough to experience Christy's positive life force. When we picture her, it is with a beaming smile. She gave so much of herself so willingly to schools, soccer and her family. Our hearts go out to her family, especially dear Tyanna, who has so many of the same, wonderful qualities.

My prayers have been for Christy and her family. I worked with her at the Nicholas County Hospital in Carlisle, KY and have exchanged Chritmas Cards with her for several years. She was a sweet lady.

To Christy's family we send our sincere sympathy.
As the co-coach of our girl’s soccer team, Christy was a constant ray of positive energy and kindness. She leaves the world a better place for having gone so lovingly through it.

Condolences to the DeNova and Timberlake families. So pleased to have known Christy from Eckstein and throughout her life. We can all learn from her about facing both life and death. Sorry to not have been able to attend to express my feelings in person. We will all miss her. Dick

My cousin Christy was a real life hero to me as a kid growing up. To this day I tell people about the love and encouragement that she always demonstrated towards me. I will never forget her generous spirit nor the twinkle in her eye.

I send my love to Tom and the kids.Christy was a very special, special lady. From the time we met in Jr. High, to the last Christmas card I recieved she didn't change where it counts, her true simple sweet love. I will always remember her wonderful parents, brothers, and the house she grew up in where the door was always open, and like her, filled with love. I will miss you. Thankyou for all you gave to me.

To the DeNova and Timberlake families: Christy was truly a beautiful person and a very special individual. She brought insight and joy to all of us who had the honor of knowing her well. We join you in being devastated at her passing, but inspired by her example.

Signed: Bill Wernecke Jr on behalf of her many friends from Stanford and particularly her 1975 Overseas Studies group at Cliveden in England.

We are heartsick at losing Christy and will always remember her as the vital, darling girl she was. She truly was a wonderful friend, always full of enthusiasm, energy and laughter. We will especially recall how radiant she looked when she and Tom were married, and how much she loved life, her family, and her many friends.

Christy was a remarkable woman! A devoted mother, go-to person for all kinds of activities, her enthusiasm and absolute reliability made her a rock in the community. At Treehouse we miss her easy laughter, good humor, and tremendous effectiveness as a volunteer with Rock 'n Roll. We share your grief.

Tom, Tyanna and Alex, the Graminski family in Connecticut sends all of our love and condolences. Christy was and still remains one of the most special people we had the privelege of knowing. She was one of the most devoted moms I have ever known. Everything she did was for you, Tyanna and Alex, and we all admired her so much for that. I have tears in my eyes thinking about you both right now. Remember, it's fine to be sad, it's fine to be MAD!!! Whatever you are feeling, allow yourself to feel it. Please also remember that God is with you. Ask him for anything you need. He will help you through, even if it doesn't seem like it. Time will heal, but it will never take away the wonderful legacy that your mom has left us. Her smaile, her warmth, her generousity, her excitment for life, her friendship, herself! We are thinking of you all and sending the BIGGEST hug. If you ever need anything, please don't hesitate to call (203/421-1958) or email. We love you! We will cherish forever, those days when Chrisy would troop over with Christy Anna and Alex to see our dog, or show off the latest Halloween costumes and always the happy friendly chatter we had coming and going as neighbors. We loved her and celebrate her fierce determination to live. Kristin and Earl
