Cinda Morgan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 11, 2020.
Cinda was born on March 3, 1944, in Huron, South Dakota to Joe and Millie Buechler. She grew up as a farm girl living in the small town of Seneca, South Dakota where she and her sister helped the family with farm life such as milking the cows. She attended a one-room schoolhouse in the little town. Cinda spoke of times during a South Dakota blizzard when the kids from the town would all hold onto a rope to stay together through a snowstorm to get to the schoolhouse. Cinda was encouraged to play the piano as a child by her mother. She fondly remembered her family taking summer trips to lakes in Minnesota to gather with relatives. As a teen, the family sold their farm and moved to Los Angeles, California where Cinda graduated from Canoga High School in 1962. As a teen, she loved the Beatles and rock n roll music. Cinda loved to dance and was seen dancing on some live television shows filmed in Los Angeles in the 1960s. She was an excellent seamstress who often sewed her own dress and clothes. She was super creative and handy with tools. She was always building something, whether it was refinishing a piece of furniture or building a shelving unit she was always busy. Cinda loved going to Disneyland and no trip would be complete without going on her favorite ride, Pirates of the Caribbean. After high school, Cinda attended beauty school and became a successful hairdresser. In her early twenties, she married Bill Morgan and raised two children in Woodland Hills, California. Cinda was such a skilled seamstress that she even sewed her own wedding dress. She fondly remembered many camping and water skiing trips in those years with the Buechler and Morgan families. She enjoyed many happy years at her house on De Kalb where she had many fond memories of swimming and barbecuing in the beautifully decorated house on the hill with a great view of the San Fernando Valley. She was a very loving mother who enjoyed spending time with her family at home as well as in the condo's at Oxnard beach and in Palm Desert. She loved to travel and would purchase special ornaments for the Christmas tree on her trips to Europe. She also loved Hawaii traveling there often and even lived there for several months in her early twenties. She met Don Ho and was able to dance on stage with him while in Hawaii. Cinda was an excellent cook and party hostess. She made hosting Christmas look easy while always making it very special as well as hosted other holidays, birthdays, and showers for her friends and family. Cinda was famous for her homemade french fries with mayo and ketchup dipping sauce and her homemade Swedish Rye bread. Those are still legendary food groups in the Morgan Family (and yes they are their own food groups) On Sundays she would enjoy her fries or sunflower seeds and watch Tennis on the television. Cinda was a healthy person and raised her kids on healthy foods, Carob and Keifer Products, and organic fruits and vegetables. Her children had to sneak in sugary snacks in through a second-story window with a rope and basket. Cinda had her healthy side but she had a big sweet tooth and couldn't resist a good Burger and Fries. She was often cited as first in line when the In N Out Burger opened in the morning in Woodland Hills. She also loved Bob's Big Boy hamburgers and fries as well as mixed Thousand Island Dressing and Blue Cheese for her salad. Cinda always loved Cupid Hot Dogs in the San Fernando Valley. She and Bill would pick up chili dogs plus fries from next door and then have a family picnic on the lawn at Pierce College, they called it the "Quiet Park" and Bill and Cinda would nap on the lawn while the kids played. She even had Cupids Hot Dogs sent up top her when she lived in Northern California, a dedicated Cupid's Customer. She was very dedicated to her children involving herself in the kid's school parties, room Mom, soccer, gymnastics, Brownies, Cub Scouts, and more. She loved the beach and would pack up the kids, a few friends, and head to the beach with the top down and surfboards hanging out the back of that little red Mercedes. Cinda loved going to Dodger games in Los Angeles with friends and family as well as liked watching professional ice skating and absolutely loved Tennis. The Morgan Family spent many weekends at the Warner Center Raquet Club meeting new friends and playing tennis with them. She was well known by family and friends for her great style and decorating trends. Cinda also loved shopping and has been known to have quite a closet full of clothes. Shopping and then going to lunch was always a treat for Cinda. She always loved driving her nice cars especially her convertible red Mercedes and red Camaro. Peach roses were her favorite flower and bought them on special occasions. After her divorce in the 1980s, she attended Pierce Community College and many classes at California State Northridge. In the 1990s, Cinda remarried Larry Voyer and spent part of that decade selling houses and working on her new home in Calabasas. Cinda's daughter was a flight attendant and the two enjoyed traveling together. They went to many places and enjoyed traveling to the Caribbean and Ireland. Later in the late 1990s, she divorced again and In 2000, she moved to San Jose to be closer to her daughter and became a Grandma in 2001. She continued her education taking classes at UC Santa Cruz extension, studying early childhood development, and then she worked at a preschool in San Jose. Within a handful of years, she became a Grandma to seven grandchildren. She helped her daughter in the Bay Area and would sometimes travel back to Woodland Hills to help her son's family. She often made caramel rolls for her grandchildren from her mom's famous recipe. Shopping at Nordstrom Rack plus the mall and then eating the Chinese Chicken Salad with a little dessert at California Pizza Kitchen with her daughter, Jill was treasured. Cinda still loved to sew and would help sew hems, make baby blankets, pillows, and make curtains for herself and family. She will be remembered for caring for her all her grandchildren and the special ornaments as well as Christmas nutcrackers she gave them during the holiday. Cinda loved being around her family and grandchildren. She loved living in Northern California it felt like home to her. Once she settled in Danville, CA in 2006, she became dedicated to community service and helping others. Over and over, her friends say how much Cinda gave of herself to help other women in need. She was tough, a fighter, with a free spirit and always had a good attitude no matter how bad things may have been at moments in her life. She found a way to fight her way out of it and was able to find peace and help others with her experiences. Cinda will be remembered by friends and family as a person who was kind, giving, funny, and smart. She cared deeply for those in her life. She had a loving spirit and had a heart of gold. The Angels came down and took her to heaven on April 11, 2020. All of those that knew and loved Cinda have been blessed by her presence and thankful for all the days they were able to spend with her. Her loving spirit will be with us forever.

Among all of my wonderful memories with Cinda, what I will always remember is her laugh! Cinda had the sweetest, most infectious laugh...I can still hear her giggling. She was a loving, fun and caring friend with many, many talents. I feel so lucky that she considered me her friend. I only wish that life hadn't taken us in such different directions. We all need a friend like Cinda

Kelly and I are so blessed to have had our life-paths crossed with Cinda. Just thinking about her, puts a smile on my heart. I can hear her laugh and see her face light up with her smile. She was a very special friend. We enjoyed many, many times together kicking up our heels in the Rudder Room in Oxnard, after enjoying a great day on the beach, our families together, playing and enjoying picnics together. She loved creating! She would always be busy with a successful project of some kind, while she listened to music. She loved when her mother visited; they were very close. We celebrated many holidays together, especially Halloween and her costumes were always memorable. She was a gift to the world and we loved her dearly.

Just wanted to say a few words about my mom. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, and friend. Since her passing in April, family and friends have provided so many photos and great memories of the great things she did. There isn't anything I loved better than to hear those kind words about her from old friends and family. I really needed that. What I saw in those pictures was that for most of her life she lived it just how she wanted it, on her terms (mostly), with a smile and a free spirit. She was happy and thankful. She was the most patient person on the planet. I don't ever remember her rushing to do anything other than get in the line at In n Out Burger. She was so easy going and easy to talk to. She was so funny, we always cracked each other up with our stupid jokes. She was a great mom and I am so proud of her. I know she is better off now, comfortable safe and warm in Gods hands. Will miss you dearly mom until we meet again. love you !

Jill, you did a beautiful tribute to a beautiful lady. Several of the posted photos bring back fond memories and recall of a great time we spent together as seniors at Canoga park High School and later on a great European vacation with Bill ,Sue and I. After Cinda moved to Northern California, Sue and I were fortunate to stay in touch by phone on the latest happenings. Thank you for the fabulous pictures! I treasure the memories of our Johnson family get-togethers in SoCal, Bass Lake, Oakhurst. We were a close bunch. I remember Cinda as a great beauty, charming, and tall (after all, I'm a lot younger and we Naylor's are not blessed in the height area). Blessings and love to you all, Craig Naylor

As my older first cousin, Cinda was always the beauty I was in awe of. As I read through her many accomplishments, I am again awed by all she did and was. From South Dakota to Southern California, to Northern California, she added her beauty to several communities, and she was always loyal to her family. I know family gatherings were a focal point for her, both in South Dakota and here in California. We have many shared memories of time with Cinda here at our Santa Monica house and with all the aunts, uncles, and cousins as we grew from childhood into adulthood. Cinda's mom, Millie, was my mom, Maxine's sister. The other sisters, Cinda's aunts, were Gretchen and Donna. Their brother, Cinda's uncle, was Robert. Cinda shared my dad, Roy's birthday of March 3rd, and they sometimes celebrated together. They would call each other every year on their special day. As I think of Cinda, I thank her for being my cousin, for keeping in touch over these many years, and for being a beautiful light our lives. I send love to Jill, Rafael, and the children and Matt, Marlena, and their children. God bless you all. Kathy

A beautiful tribute to your Mother. I was fortunate to have known her from High School on to No. Calif. We had so many wonderful and memorable moments that I will always treasure. One of the things I loved about Cinda, was she wasn't judgemental. She was always sweet and got along with everyone. I loved her so much, when we were in Colo. she was the only person I would call other than my Mom. My daughter is also named after her, Cinda Jean. I love and miss you Cinda, until we meet again.

Jill, this beautiful tribute to your mom is incredible. She was a stunning woman who enjoyed life and loved so many people, and we all loved her. I remember her laugh and smile so well, and the memories at the Oxnard condo, the ski trips, the tennis club, baking at your home on DeKalb (she taught us to make meringue on the pies), & she made celebrations so special...and yes, I will always remember the infamous red convertible Mercedes too! So grateful the Morgan family included our family in so much. I look at the pictures and you are beautiful just like her. Love you Jilly!! Lots of love to the entire family. Sending you love in heaven Cinda.

I looked up to her, and she influenced my life and accomplishments in so many positive ways!! She taught me, by example, to be a loving, kind, gracious and actively present parent! I loved her like a sister! I'll miss her in my life and will be reminded daily of her optimistic, lighthearted and giving ways. Love, Donalie

If roses grow in heaven,
Please pick a bunch for me (peach please)
Place them in my Mother's arms
And tell her they're from me.
Tell her I love her and miss her
And when she turns to smile
Place a kiss upon her cheek
And hold her for a while
Because remembering her is easy
I do it everyday
But there's an ache within my heart
That will never go away.
Love you always mom.. Jill

We had a wonderful mother
One who never really grew old
Her smile was made of sunshine
And her heart was solid gold
Her eyes were as bright as shining stars
And in her cheeks fair roses you see
We had a wonderful mother
And that's the way it will always be
But take heed because
She's still keeping an eye on all of us
So, let's make sure
She will like what she sees
Love you always mom.. forever missed. Jill
