Here I sit a week before Christmas (which was always your favourite time of year) and beg to feel something again at this special time. You are Christmas to me and now I have to spend every single one for the rest of my life without you. I haven't had a real Christmas since you have left me and I don't think I ever will again. My heart is so broken I don't know how it will ever mend my precious. I love you so much mum. Merry Christ and happy new year in heaven. Xxxx

Nearly 2 years on now and I still sit and stare into the sky, remembering your voice, trying to hold onto the feeling I got when your were here with me. I'm getting better with my self everyday and learning to live without you but it's a lesson that I just can't get used to despite how much I try. I know you're up there so angry for being taken away this early but I also know you're up there protecting me and my brothers like you always have. I miss you so much mum x

My son just today sent a message saying "Mum did you know that Cindy Flemming died".
Very fond memories of Cindy & her 4 boys when they came to my hair and day spa formerly Summerby's of Port Douglas sold in 2001. Cindy was a humble beautiful salt of the earth woman and Mum. So many wonderful conversations shared as Cindy became more than just a client.

You've gotta dance like there's nobody watching,
Love like you'll never be hurt,
Sing like there's nobody listening,
And live like it's heaven on earth.

I just learnt of Cindy's passing, I worked for Cindy's for 7yrs in the early 90's, to say I am shocked and saddened is an understatement... I have no doubt she will be greatly missed.. I was around for all of her pregnancies, her good times and her great times during the 90's. She was the most stylish lady I have ever met, who taught me plenty! Including my love of the nice things.. My memories are plenty and I shall always cherish them. My condolences to her husband and her 4 boys... That smile, I will never forget... Xoxo

Everything about Cindy was a BEST for me. She was the best dressed, had the best stories, best jokes, more importantly was my best friend, best mother, quite simply the best woman I have ever met! Naming my new little girl after you is only the first dedication to your life I have chosen to impose on her. She will know the incredible woman you were and with your angel guidance from above can and will be half the woman that you were. You changed my life from the moment I met you, I love you Cindy fleming.

I remember watching Cindy every Saturday morning when she was a barrel girl on sound unlimited and going to see her when she was doing promotion work at a shopping centre for cepacole throst lozengers and she gave me about 6 packets of them. I remember when Cindy, Craig and Aunty Pauline came for a visit when I was still living at home and she went for a ride on my sisters horse at full gallop up and down the road and on a few occasions when we went to Woolloomooloo to visit them Cindy showed us some of her modelling photo's and another time we went there we stayed for lunch and Cindy got out the good china and cutlery for us there was also the time when she was working as a Rollerskating waitress and she made us BLT's for lunch then sat with us talking about the groups and songs we liked. So many wonderful memories, I should find the photo's to share

Cindy Fleming was a legendary example of what it is to be feminine.
She was born in Sydney and celebrated her birthday on the 18th September, every year – in fact, she celebrated the whole of September – do you remember!? She was the much loved daughter of the late Pauline Lauritzen and is the sister of Craig Miller. Caring mother to Aaron, Jordin, Tristan and Keaton; my much loved wife, and the funniest friend anyone could have wished for including our four adored dogs – Zorro, Hugo, Muffy and Oskar.
Raised in a working class family, Cindy's humble beginnings and her childhood years, grounded her throughout her life. She had the most amazing ability to connect with individuals from all walks of life – from a homeless person on the street, to a terminally ill child in hospital, to former Prime Minister Bob Hawke – she never shied away from the opportunity to meet new people.
Dean, who is here with us today, shared with Cindy some incredible times and the pair had many remarkable and fabulous adventures. They were blessed with the joy of four gifted sons, who are all truly exceptional young men.
We, whom are gathered here today, knew Cindy as a vivacious, kind hearted, exuberant human being, personifying glamour, style, beauty and everything extraordinary.
Cindy was a devoted and loyal friend to those lucky enough to be in her circle. She was the very essence of love, laughter and hope. Her incredible optimism when faced with adversity was much to be admired. She had a special ability to turn a not so positive situation, into an opportunity to grow and triumph, while adding a sprinkle of her very unique brand of magic.
Cindy was a dedicated and generous philanthropist, chairing countless fund raising committees and serving on a number of charity boards. She was involved in raising substantial funds and arranging prizes for so many charities, including Variety – the children's charity, Street Kids with Rachel Ward and Bryan Brown, White Balloon, The Churchie Support Group, Underprivileged Children and the Cornucopia Foundation.
For ten years from the mid-eighties, Cindy was the owner and Managing Director of her highly successful PR and Marketing Agency, Cindy Fleming Promotions, where at it's peak, it employed over 3,500 staff and looking after in excess of 500 clients nationwide. She was responsible for launching some of our favourite brands, including Corona and Toohey's Beers in Australia, as well as, Jack Daniels, Twisties and Smith's Crisps, Malibu – where she famously wore the white bikini that on the front read “it comes from heaven” and on the back “it tastes like paradise”.
Some of her other big named clients included Bic Lighters, Rothman's Cigarettes and Cadbury-Schueppes. This chapter of her life saw her dramatically increase her profile on Sydney radio and television. Cindy appeared as a regular on the Triple M Breakfast Show and Allan Jones' 2GB. While assuming the persona of her famous fictitious character “Cindy the Inflatable”, she would dance to the tune of Robin Palmer's Simply Irresistible and entertain fans with anecdotes and stories. Working with Australian Singer Songwriter, Doug Mulray, she had the privilege of meeting the late Robin Williams, who turned to Doug and said “I think this broad's funnier than I am”. I'm sure she's up there right now ... making her friends Robin Williams and Joan Rivers wet themselves with laughter.
Putting her phil-an-thropic and professional achievements aside, Cindy had phenomenal dress sense and a real love for all things fashion. This was evident to all those whose attention she captured anywhere she went. I couldn't take her anywhere without people staring – including our local shops – initially, I wasn't sure how to take this, but I came to embrace what many would describe as a “celebrity” status in Brisbane. From her teenage years, she fell in love with Louis Vuitton and is arguably their most well-known, self-appointed ambassador – who could forget the clank of those bangles. She didn't, however, discriminate. She also loved Gucci, Hermes, Prada, Fendi and Dolce & Gabanna.
I would like to talk about Cindy's special talents that some of you may be unaware of. She had an absolute love for dancing. She was an Australasian Dance Champion, a Sydney Swanette and in her Pool House, while wearing a pair of stilettos, she held court with high kicks, headstands and cartwheels, legs in the air and her infamous helicopter maneuverer.
Another one of her quietly spoken abilities was her numerous renditions of Earth, Wind & Fire, Bee Gees, Lionel Richie and John Farnham songs. Hallelujah! Fortunately, the Indooroopilly Police agreed that volume was not the issue, just the repetitive nature of the songs, with Lionel Richie's “Endless Love” being one of her all-time favourites.
I will never forget the 18th of September, when I met Cindy on her Birthday at Jellyfish Restaurant, here in Brisbane. I asked her if she was the Birthday girl and she said “yes”. We shared conversation and at that point, she was dearly missing her sons, as they were travelling abroad. From there, our romance blossomed in Noosa, with countless friends, sharing laughter, bubbles and conversation with the Management of the Emerald Hotel … Margaret, you're out of line.
Cindy shared with me all of her love, she gave me her entire heart and I unconditionally gave her mine. We danced on our wedding day to “Endless Love” and this theme was synonymous with the passion we had for each other. She would make me laugh in the middle of the night. Apart from her sense of humour, Cindy was an incredibly loyal, honest and above all, passionate wife. She made me feel special every single day – I'll always remember the day I received 17 phone calls at work, before 8:30. She surprised me one day by sharing her feelings about love. I will briefly share these with you.
What is Love? To solve that riddle with just one answer is impossible, for love is so many different and contradictory things. In the early stages love is excitement and breathlessness, it is the ache of separation and the comfort of togetherness, and it builds to that moment when “I” becomes “we”. Later, if blessed, love becomes a stronger, less transitory thing, a foundation for two lives as one. It is all around us, there for the taking, yet to seek it out is futile. It cannot be avoided or denied. Love is the beautiful, wonderful, mysterious mortar that binds two souls together and I first heard its voice on the day I met you. It has been with me every moment since. This is what love is.
I'm sure you'd all agree with Cindy on this one.
We have a magic box which is never locked and I've shared a song and the best days of my life with you, Cindy.
I was fortunate enough to be welcomed into a family with Cindy and her Sons, where there was never a dull day and always something happening that others couldn't believe. Cindy never tired of telling us that she loved us all more than all the sand in the ocean and all the blue in the sky. We shared an incredible life. Cindy's zest for life was not only shared by me, but everyone she met. You all know what I mean.
Our dreams of living in New York and having adventures together in the Big Apple, was often a topic of conversation.
There are too many stories to share here today. I know you all have your own. There will be a time where we can reminisce and share those stories over a lemonade and song at her Pink Palace.
Tragically, life's not always fair and Cindy has left us too soon. We all miss her. We all love her – and we can all look forward to having her warmly greeting us at the pearly gates with a glass of Moet in hand.
I would like to thank you all for being here today to remember and honour her truly extraordinary life.
Michael Conley
