Earlier today
So many warm memories of spending time at the Cannon house in Washington, PA. Clair was always kind and supportive as we got up to various adventures. Loved reading the stories from her life on this page. Sending all our love from Cleveland, OH - Sam + Kim Rodgers-Melnick.

Yesterday
Clair was a real friend to us when we lived in PA briefly. We were taken in by a group of folks who did things together when we badly needed connections and support. When we were moving back to my small home in FL, it was an overwhelming prospect that involved different destinations for items we would need to store with relatives, etc. Clair marshaled the troops and helped me organize the chaos! She was a joy to be around and will be missed.

i knew & remembered Claire as NCF"s house-church mom; she believed in me, tho i couldn't/cannot speak, & she entrusted her daughter, Abby, to my care on one day; i recall baking cookies with the young 4-year-old!

Joel (and kids), I'm SO sorry to learn of Clair's death. She was a "force of nature," to use a cliche. May our Lord hold each of you close to His heart as you grieve.
It's not clear from the web site that they will notify you, or how, but just in case the tree-planting people don't let you know: I have ordered a group of 50 trees to be planted in honor of Clair.

While visiting Clair and my brother Joel I did some drywall repair. Clair was interested so I gave her a few pointers. I guess it didn´t stop there, she went on to do drywall repairs and remodel on a number of her rental properties.
She was an amazing woman with a can do attitude and a wonderful spirit!
She will be greatly missed!

Clair and Joel took me in when my wife left me and I ended up staying with them for 2 1/2 years while I went back to the University of Illinois for my masters degree. It was a formative time in my faith development as well as being part of a supportive family environment. I can attest that Clair did indeed become a wonderful cook. She also had a great sense of humor, not letting this farm boy get away with any comment she couldn´t relate to in her East Coast upbringing without a chuckle.
I am so thankful that Clair was in my life. Though it was long ago, I will always cherish the memories of that home on S. Cottage Grove, Urbana where faith and hospitality came second nature to Clair. My thoughts and prayers are with Joel, Wes, Abby, Maddy and their families in their loss and hope they find comfort in their memories of Clair and the difference she made in their lives.

Clair was a fun friend to be with and her Citroen car was a huge hit with my 2 brothers, dad and mom. We kept asking her to stop the motor then start it so that we could watch the car rise up! Ah many fun times!

What beautiful memories and photos ... Clair was a woman from whom warmth and kindness radiated. I will also always remember her 'can-do' spirit that was so effective, but never in an abrasive way. Her ears were always open to input from others. We are surely the poorer here on earth for her passing. But, knowing Clair, she's still there - everywhere! - for her family, for those in need, and for the general good. [HEART]
