Marie, John & Family:
We were sadden to hear about Clair. He was one of my favorite teachers. I still use his words: It is better to be silent and thought dumb, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. He has touched so many with his wisdom and guidance. Heaven has gained another super angel.
You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear family and friends of Mr. Young, Mr. Young was a GIANT among teachers. Math became my favorite subject, his classroom at New Milford High School my favorite place with the morning sun shining in. God bless and comfort you all.

I remember Mr. Young walking down the hall, carrying the wooden paddle with a smile on his face. He never used it (I don't think) but he kept us all in line, and we all respected him, he was my favorite teacher. He used to come to my mother's diner after school for coffee and pie and give mom the low-down on what I did that day. He was my idol. I'll miss you forever Mr. Young.

I didn't go to Blue Ridge but my
husband has told so many stories I
can repeat them all -but the best was someone putting a toilet on his
porch at Halloween - he left town
each year to please the kids.
RIP dear Clair - you'll be missed

Mr. Young was a great man who I'm sure never realized how many young lives he helped mold and shape. He will be missed.

I have so many fond memories but teaberries (candy) come to mind 1st. Uncle Clair always had them tucked in the glovebox of his car everytime he came to visit Grandma & Grandpa. My second memory is the candy you made every year for Christmas for each of his brother's and sisters. I would always ask my mother if she had received it because I would get into it and get the pink candy with the walnut on top. I would love to have that recipe!!!
Love you Aunt Marie!
Keep the happy memories in your heart

Marie, John and family: Very FEW people have EVER had an impact on my life, Clair was one that did. My daughter and Grandchildren never met Clair, but I can assure you all that they KNOW very well, his cliches. "I can't is a sluggard, too lazy to work," "can the chatter," "don't toot your own horn," and last, but by no means least, "It is better to be silent and thought dumb, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt!" Ah, one more..."which would you rather have, one hundred dollars or Dale Jesse's nose full of dimes?"
Rest assured, MANY of us that went to school in the 50'S will NEVER forget Clair.
Clair was my homeroom teacher in ninth grade and I took Algebra ! that year. Toward the end of the year, he said to me, "If you promise me you won't take Algebra II next year, I'll give you a "D," for your final grade this year." I said, "good enough for me, do it."
One more thing: Back in those days, we always started "halloweening," about 2 weeks before Halloween. We always thought that Clair scheduled his vacation to coincide with this, so that we all had free rein, stacking tires from Jimmy Houlihan's gas station on his porch, to the roof, so he and Marie couldn't even get in their front door. EVERY year, Clair went away during Halloween season. Coincidence? I STILL doubt it.
So, my deepest sympathies to all of Clair's family.

I remember Mr Young taking me to my dentist appts when I was in 10th grade, because my mother did not drive and I had no way to get there. He took me to all of my appts. He was such a nice man and always was good to me. May you find comfort in the memories you have of him.
