Claire Narus Obituary

Published by Middletown Press on Aug. 11, 2020.
Narus, Claire
Claire (Pinunsky) Narus, 93, of Middletown, (formerly of Waterbury and Portland, CT), the wife of the late Joseph Narus, entered into Heaven August 6, 2020 while at her home with her devoted family by her side. Claire was born in Middletown, daughter of the late Edward and Evelyn (Mielczarski) Pinunsky. She was a graduate of Middletown High School. Besides her most important job as mother to her four children, Claire enjoyed working at various jobs outside of the home, including a lengthy career at Uniroyal Inc. World Headquarters in Middlebury, CT. She retired at 80 years old from B & B Equipment, Portland. Claire and Joe spent over 52 happy years together in Waterbury where they reared their family and enjoyed entertaining their friends and relatives. Claire was an active member of Saints Peter and Paul Church for many years, serving in various capacities including Eucharistic Minister, Lector and Prayer Group Leader. After the passing of her beloved husband Joe, she moved to Middletown where she rebuilt her life and was blessed to find love again with her second husband, James "Dee" Barry. She was an active parishioner of St. Mary's Church, where she served as a Lector and made many friends. Claire was a loving soul who always had a kind word and smile for all. She touched the lives of everyone she met. She had an unwavering faith in God and will be remembered by her boundless capacity to love. Her favorite expression was "love you more" and her priceless legacy of love and faith will live on through her family. Claire is survived by her four children, Nancy Hulsart and her husband Peter of Woodbury, Richard Narus of Southington, Suzzanne Madden and her husband Michael of Waterbury, Douglas Narus and his wife Robin of Burlington, grandchildren Michael Madden, Jr., Mallory Lessard and her husband Zachary, Stephanie Fortier and her husband Brandon, Douglas Narus, Jr., Michaela and Gabriella Narus, her precious great-grandchildren Aiden, Liam, Callie, Madelynn and Ella. Also mourning her loss is her husband James "Dee" Barry and his family, her dear cousin Vivian Stevenson of Stamford, and her sister-in-law Christine Pinunsky of Portland, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Joseph, Claire was predeceased by her brother Edward Pinunsky and her two sisters Lucille Dralle and Joan Bankowski. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 3 Elm Street Middletown, at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 17th. Due to the Covid-19 virus, there may be capacity restrictions at the church. Friends may visit the Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver Street Middletown, on Sunday, August 16th from 4 to 6 p.m. Burial will at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to The Salvation Army, Portland Food Bank, or a similar charity of your choice. The family extends its appreciation to Middlesex Hospice and all those who helped us navigate Claire's journey home. To Claire's Family and Dee - Oh how we will miss our dominoes, cards, or just hanging out. You have been such a blessing to me and i am so sad to see you go. But, so happy you are in your heavenly home. My sister Mary, considered you a good friend - and how your eyes lit up when you saw each other. You were a caring person for anyone who crossed your path is a trait that many of us should model. May you rest in peace my dear sis-in-law. I Love You and your response would be "I Love You More."

I grew up in Waterbury, attending SSPP Church and graduated from Chase School with Ricky. I got to know your parents through the "All Things New" Charasmatic Prayer Community at SSPP Church. They modeled what it was to be a committed couple. Your Mom had a lot of dignity and class and she was ever so kind, considerate and thoughtful. I have thought of her often over the years and hold her in high regard. She is now reunited with your father and I have no doubt in my mind that she went straight to heaven. God bless all of you. My prayers are with you at this time. Be joyful that she has attained salvation. Hi to Doug and my sister Cynthia says hello to Nancy.

Dear Nancy and family! I am so sorry about your Mom!
I used to work with you and your Mom at Uniroyal World Headquaters in Middlebury, CT. Your Mom and I worked in the Teletype Department! My Father was the chauffeur for the President and Vice President of the Headquarters! Your Mom was a wonderful person! I will always remember her smile and kind words for all that came in contact with her!
Memories will always be in my heart!

Claire was a beautiful, loving person. I always felt her love. She prayed for my daughter who was fighting cancer. She prayed for my grandson through his disease. Though she isn't on earth anymore, I know she still prays, stills loves, and watches over me and my family. Miss you, Claire!

I would like to express my condolences to Claire's family. I met Claire while working at the Portland Post Office as a window clerk. She would come in almost daily and we would have a great chat. She was the sweetest person and had a great outlook on life. I know she will be greatly missed. Thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Clare was a beautiful, kind, spirit filled lady. She and Dee were a part of our Saturday night dinner group. Claire made sure that we all joined hands and said a prayer before we started to eat. We now have an angel in heaven watching over all of us!
