Ann Runyon Beatty

Ann Louise Runyon Beatty, died October 17, 2016 at the Sherrills Ford Hospice House after an extended illness.

Born July 5, 1940 in Reading, Pennsylvania. Mrs. Beatty was the oldest daughter of the late James H. Runyon and Ruth Kantner Runyon. She traveled to High Point College to pursue a degree in Christian Education. It was then that she met her husband, Paul A. Beatty and the two were married in July of 1960. She was an 1965 graduate of Lenoir Rhyne College and went on to receive her Master’s degree from Western Carolina University. She taught for 30 years in Catawba County Schools at Claremont and Balls Creek Elementary. Mrs. Beatty had been an active member of Rehobeth United Methodist Church participating in the chancel choir, Susanna Wesley Circle, and served on many church commmittees over the years. Ann was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Harriet Yenser; and brothers, James Runyon, Jr. and John Runyon.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Paul A. Beatty, Sr.; son, Paul A. Beatty, Jr. and wife, Jaimie; daughter, Patricia Beatty Goodwin and husband, Jim; grandchildren, Luke Goodwin and wife, Mallory, Elizabeth Goodwin, Jesse Goodwin and Thomas Beatty; and sister-in-law, Karen Runyon of Honeybrook, PA.

Service of Remembrance will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, October 19 at Rehobeth United Methodist Church. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00-4:00 PM at the church.
