Carol Burlaka
February 23, 2017
There is no doubt that Clara Olson is now in the presence of her Lord and Saviour. I don't have the words to describe fully the lovely soul she was. I am just glad that I knew her even as little as I may know of her. I got to know Clara by seeing her walk by my home each day for the 10 years I lived there. Every day rain, shine, snow, wind didn't matter. She walked by. She would have been in her 80s then.
In the first years she would be pushing a woman in a wheelchair and then eventually it would be Clara by herself. Even before I met her, I admired her and I knew she was a person of great discipline and strength and commitment. I knew I wanted to meet her so one day I took the opportunity to say hi. Then I learned her story. I learned that the woman in the wheelchair was her daughter Carol. And I learned how each of her children was struck with kidney disease and how it took each life with the next child living a little longer; Carol living to the age of 52 or so. Readers Digest did a story on the family. Each child lived at home their whole life where Clara looked after them with love and dedication. And when her husband became ill she looked after him as well. I said to her one day how difficult it must have been for her to spend her life looking after everyone and then to lose each one. Clara answered I'm glad God chose me . (and not someone who would begrudge it). She is truly an example of Servant' and an inspiration to me. Love and hugs Clara. My condolences to her family.
