I was very sorry to hear about Col Anderson. He wrote the nicest note to my mother when we lost my dad to brain cancer a few years ago. I met him several times.

Col Anderson was my hero. As a teen in the late 80s and early 90s I worked at airshows and had a strong interest in WWII history. My father suggested his book, which I still own a copy. I had the pleasure of meeting Col Anderson, I believe it was the Mount Comfort Air Show in Indiana, where several members of the 363rd attended, and flew. For a young woman, to meet such a gentleman, I was delighted.
My strong history with veterans, particularly WWII veterans led me to enlist in the Air Force myself. I felt it was a way of 'paying back' those that had come before me.
Thank you Col. You probably would never have realized the impact you had on my younger self. I proudly salute you, sir.
Keep'em Flying

I had the pleasure of meeting, photographing and talking with Colonel Anderson at two Mesa, Arizona Commemorative Air Force Gathering of Legends events, honoring pilots of several generations. At a time when sports figures are called heroes, the word is bandied about, but Bud Anderson deserves the title and shows us what this incredible country can produce!

At WWII weekend in Reading PA. He was there and I bought a model of his plane and had it signed by him. Was so happy I done that . While there are many heroes he was my favorite. So all I will say is fly on to the pearly gates. See you soon. This was not easy to write.

It is sad to hear the passing of BGen Bud Anderson. He's another one of the Greatest Generation that passes from this world. I have admired and respected this man since I was a kid in the early 60's. What a beloved warrior he was and a great American. Out of respect for the great ace, I nicknamed my son Justin "Bud"! My prayers and condolences go out to his family and relatives. Rest in peace forever and God bless!

My father , ( also a WW2 pilot and retired airline pilot ) , had the honor of meeting Mr. Anderson many years ago and took him up in our North American T-6 , and of course they both flew and did a few barrel rolls for good measure.
Daddy said he was a class act and enjoyed his book and got a signed copy! We all owe a debt , we cannot comprehend to the greatest generation ! Sincerely, Bonnie Kyle
