I am very sorry to hear this news. Your research will continue to inspire people for generations. Your research and thinking has had an enormous impact on the field, and on my own research. I found your talks inspiring and your work set me on a path to want to know why we see inequalities in executive functions. You work and ideas will live on.

I will always remember Clancy for giving so much good into the world in the time he was allotted. He showed people that one can be an excellent developmental scientist and teacher while also being kind, generous and joyful. My heart goes out to Cybele, his children, and those who loved Clancy but lost him too soon.

Clancy was an amazing person, friend, and researcher. Like many of us who knew him during graduate school, we fondly watched his stellar, prolific career with great awe. I am forever grateful to have known him, to have been his colleague and classmate. Rest in peace Clanc-Man!

Clancy was a mentor and a guiding light when I was a junior scholar. His contribution to developmental psychology cannot be overstated. What a monumental loss.

One of the smartest I ever knew. He knew early that the world was more than cutting grass

This is very sad news for everyone associated with the Department of Psychology at UAB. Clancy was one of the first graduates of our Developmental Psychology Doctoral Program. I was department chair during his time as a student and I watched his outstanding career grow. I was still chair when he returned to receive our Outstanding Alumnus Award in 2008. From his modest stature as a graduate student to his prominence as a superstar, his demeanor, warmth, and kindness never changed. His death saddens me.
