In memory of
Emily Dougherty
March 5, 2010
I never thought this day would come Uncle Bud, I thought for sure you were going to outlive us all. Being that you lived with us for 16 years, you were more like a brother to me than an uncle. It's awful not having you around..peaking into the kitchen, hogging the bathroom, or hearing your rocking chair ;) ..the memories i have of you will always make me smile and i will surely miss everything that made you who you were. I love you and i will miss you forever. Your niece, Emily

For some reason,of all the cousins I have, the only one I had in a photo album was cousin Buddy, holding one of his little nieces.
His kindness, innocence, and enthusiasm always touched my heart.

As a child, I remember Uncle Buddy and how he loved us, his nieces and nephews! He held us in his arms soon after we were born and how proud he was of all of us as he watched us grow up. I remember his renditions of the McCafferty “Happy Birthday,” he always wished we’d all live to be 100 and then live 100 years more. I remember Dickson Street and Bonvue and all the good times we had. I remember him singing Elvis songs in his room, door closed, but we could all still hear “Hound Dog” throughout the house, which smelled of Grandma’s homemade pies. He dove for and caught the garters at all the weddings.
Sunday was an unbelievably emotional day! To have “Elvis” enter Uncle Buddy’s hospital room was the ultimate, while celebrating with all of his family and eating birthday cake. “Elvis” did a wonderful job and was very kind to Uncle Bud, singing many of Uncle Bud’s favorites. All of us can only hope to have the sweetness, kindness and innocence of Uncle Bud’s heart. The man never had a bad word to say about ANYONE! May God Bless your soul Uncle Bud! Rest in Peace my friend, you are now home. Thank you for all you did for us. --- Your nephew Robert

Bill, Arleen and the entire McCafferty family - my deepest sympathy for your loss. I was so happy that I was able to visit at the holidays and see Buddy. His unconditional love was evident that night through the big hug with which he greeted me. Just remember, the memories you have will keep him with you forever, in your heart.

Buddy's kindness toward everyone he met should be an example to us that people are more important than things. My heartfelt condolences to all of Buddy's family on the loss of this special gift from God. Do not grieve too deeply. God has prepared a special place for Buddy. Like Buddy, let us never forget that each of us is created in God's image and likeness, regardless of the challenges we face.
