Claudio Cortinas passed peacefully on February 26, 2025, in Merced CA. Born on June 10, 1927, and raised in Eagle Pass, Texas to Patricio Cortinas and Secundina Cortinas along with five siblings. He joined the army at 18 and was a WWII veteran who toured in Korea. He lived to be 97 years old and settled for most of his life in Planada CA. He traveled frequently throughout his life, with one of his last trips being in 2022 to Washington DC on the Veterans Honor Flight. He married his wife Amelia Cortinas and they shared two children, Claudio Jr. and Alex Cortinas. Amelia and Claudio Jr. both preceded Claudio Sr. in death. Claudio leaves behind his life partner Irma, his son Alex Cortinas, four grandchildren; Scott, Michelle, Celena and Julian as well as four great-grandchildren; Andrea, Scott Jr., Jordan and Emily. He will be honored and greatly missed by his family. His services will be held on March 13th, 2025 at Planada Catholic Church, Sacred Heart. Rosary begins at 9:00 AM with mass at 10:00 AM followed by a gravesite burial at Plainsburg cemetery. Please join us in honoring the life of our father, grandpa, friend and patriarch.
