Clay Uriah McLean, born on February 19, 2004, in Bakersfield, California, entered into eternal rest on December 27, 2024, in his hometown of Bakersfield at the age of 20. Clay was the beloved son of Sean Clay McLean and Jennifer Grace McLean and a cherished brother to his sister, Trinity McLean. He also shared a special bond with his girlfriend, Ashley Vento, and her two children, Maricruz and Xavier.

Clay's life was a testament to his faith in Christ. As a devoted Christian, he found joy in sharing the gospel and living out his beliefs through kindness and service to others. His family takes comfort in the promise of seeing him again in heaven.

Clay's memory lives on in the hearts of his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wide circle of friends. The outpouring of love and support from the community, who were all touched by his vibrant personality and unwavering determination, speaks to the strength of the bond he shared with us all.

Clay's passion for adventure and indomitable spirit shone through in everything he did. As an accomplished BMX racer, he earned numerous awards and forged lasting friendships within the BMX community. His love for sports extended to baseball, paintball, jiu-jitsu, ice hockey, surfing, and snowboarding, activities he embraced with enthusiasm and energy.

A hardworking and determined young man, Clay was employed as a security guard while pursuing his dream of becoming a firefighter. He was actively working toward obtaining his EMT certification as the first step on this path. His desire to help others was an inspiration to all who knew him.

Metro BMX, located at 3805 Chester Ave in Bakersfield, California, will host a state race on January 18 at noon. A memorial parade lap in honor of Clay will begin at 12:30 p.m. Friends and family are encouraged to participate by riding or walking the track.

The McLeans welcome family and friends to say goodbye to Clay at Greenlawn Funeral Home Chapel, 2739 Panama Ln., Bakersfield, CA. Two viewing services are scheduled: Tuesday, January 21, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., and Friday, January 24, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 25, at 10:30 a.m. at Westside Believers Fellowship, 101 HWY 33, Taft, California. It will be a time of warmth, love, and shared memories, followed by a lunch reception.

May Clay's adventurous spirit and steadfast faith continue to inspire all who knew him until they meet again.

Clay was one of the very first people I remember coming across at the track his name always stood out to me. He quickly became close to me from there. I remember my first national in Phoenix Az I was still novice and I could not stop falling in the rocky warm up section Clay didn´t hesitate to show me what I was doing wrong and how to slide out every two seconds. He was a brother to my cousins and he enjoyed helping my family. When Clay showed up to the house there truly was never a dull moment he was always cracking jokes and had a smile that light the whole room up you guys raised an amazing son and he touched people in so many ways rest easy Clay see you later

Clay was one of the sweetest, well mannered, and all around good kids I have ever met. He was such a joy to be around and always gave his best at everything he did. His smile would light up the room. He will be very missed by us all. Love the Tabatt family.

Clay was an absolute joy to teach and brought such positivity and humor into the classroom. Whether it was playing a practical joke on me or bringing food to share with the entire class, Clay was always respectful, funny, and positive. His presence and impact in my classroom will never be forgotten.

Clay was such a great kid. He was a student at our school from kindergarten through 6th grade. I remember him as being cute, smart, and so respectful. He modeled the type of behavior every teacher and school administrator wishes for. His passing deeply saddens me. Prayers for his family.
