Clay Reece Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 10, 2025.
Thomas Clay Reece, a devoted husband, loving father, and faithful servant of God, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, at the age of 79.

Born on February 12, 1946, in Birmingham, Alabama, Clay was the only child of Carl and Daisy Reece, who preceded him in death. A graduate of West End High School, Clay went on to serve honorably in the United States Army as a mechanic, stationed in Korea. He often recalled his time working on tanks and military vehicles with quiet pride.

Following his military service, Clay built a successful career in the trucking industry and retired from Kurt's Truck Parts, where he worked in sales and purchasing. Though his role shifted over time, Clay was always known for his mechanical know-how, steady work ethic, and willingness to help others whenever he could.

On July 2, 1976, Clay married the love of his life, Patricia Reece. Together, they created a home grounded in faith, love, and support. Clay was a devoted father, always present and engaged in the lives of his children. He coached youth sports, offered wise counsel, and led by example in everything he did.

A man of deep Catholic faith, Clay was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus for over 20 years. He was respected by his brother Knights and cherished by his family and community.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Reece; stepdaughter Sheryl Hancock (Ed); stepdaughter Betty Johnson (David Lovoy); and son Adam Reece (Angela); as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved deeply. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew him.

A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, located at 80 St Thomas Way, Montevallo, AL 35115. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. A committal service with military honors will take place at 1:15 p.m. at Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Hwy 119, Montevallo, AL 35115.
