Clayton Woods Plummer, of Friona, Texas and formerly of Clovis, New Mexico, passed away August 1, 2023 in Houston, Texas. Clay lost his brief, but courageous fight against cancer.

Clay was born October 1, 1993 in Clovis, NM to Lee and Donna Plummer. He attended schools in Clovis, NM, Earth, TX, and Bovina, TX. He graduated from Clovis High School in 2012 and NMSU with a degree in Ag Business. Clay worked summers for his uncle, Justin and grandpa, Ray on the farm and ranch. After he graduated, he obtained a position at Vet Industries in Friona where he currently worked.

Clayton enjoyed fishing, camping, collecting knives, online video gaming and his gaming community of friends, and playing with his dog, Ranger. He was a history buff with a list of countries he had planned to explore. He recently got to go to Hawaii and a Red Hot Chili Pepper concert with his beloved brother, Tyler. Clayton enjoyed working at Vet Industries and visiting with all of his customers and friends.

Clayton was preceded in death by his uncle, Justin Starbuck; cousin, Matthew Qualls; and grandparents, Ray and Linda Starbuck, Don Lee, and Bobbie and Roy Plummer. He is survived by his parents, Lee and Donna of Clovis; his brother and best friend, Tyler Shackelford; sister-in-law, Kara Rechard Shackelford; aunts, Janice Qualls of Portales, Lori (Bob) Burkart of Oregon, Selena Starbuck of Clovis and Crystal (Steve) Fenstermaker of Clovis; his uncles Bill (Heidi) Plummer and Lyn Plummer of Texas; and cousins, Max and Mallory Burkart of Colorado; Heather, Holly and Amber (Gemma) Starbuck of Clovis; Wade (Lacey) Plummer of Friona; Jadie (Tia) Plummer of Arizona and Patrick Cole Qualls (Jessica) of Midland.
