MR. CLETUS FRANCIS MITCHELL ("MITCHIE")

It is with deep sadness that we mourn the loss of Cletus Mitchell, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, relative and friend. Cletus at 85 years young remained up until recently, very much the person he was affectionately known to so many as "Mitchie". He was the baby for his parents Gomas and Margaret nee Pascal (deceased), Cletus passed away peacefully mid-afternoon on March 24th, 2018 at home in North York, surrounded by his family and friends.

Cletus leaves to mourn his wife Enid, his six children and their spouses, Dominic, Anthony (Natus) & Dora, Hilarion & Glen Smith, Declan, Jamie & Paula and Renee & Vonnie Julien, his 5 step-children and their spouses, Sonia & Hughroy Smith, Delroy & Vad Mangal, Stephen, Andrea & Layton Campbell and Richard, his 8 grandchildren, Jamila "Gem", Christopher, Matthew, Robert "Robbie", J'Nay, Monàe, Ayden "A.J." and Jacob ("J.J."), three sisters, Beryl Pierre (U.K.), Albertha (nee Mitchell) Sandy and Christine "Titin" Mitchell-Sylvester, nephew to last surviving Aunt Unita until recently (deceased 2017), cousin to Constance Matthew, three sister-in-law's in Grenada, Catherine "Muriel", Rosanna and Sybil, Uncle to The Right Honourable Dr. Keith Mitchell (Prime Minister of Grenada), cousin to The Right Honourable Jean Augustine and Uncle to many nieces and nephews in Canada, United States, United Kingdom, Trinidad and Tobago and St. George's, Grenada especially Happy Hill, Willis, Boca and surrounding areas.

Cletus, who immigrated to Canada in 1968, was a retiree with the City of Scarborough's Parks division. Before immigrating to Canada, Cletus attended Presentation College and then worked with the Grenada Department of Agriculture. He pursued his love of horticulture with further studies at the University of Puerto Rico and later at Ryerson. He was a formidable force and a true provider for his family. He relished his love of gardening, filled with annuals, like marigolds and perennials. This was especially a past-time in his retirement years and proudly shared the bountiful harvest of fruits and vegetables with family and friends. He was an avid Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs fan and more recently, the Toronto Raptors. He never missed family gatherings where he enjoyed listening to calypso, reggae, including "The Mighty Sparrow" and more. We were so blessed to have shared with him, a long and colourful life, which will live on in our hearts.
