Cletus E. Riley

RILEY – Cletus E., 85, Johnstown, died May 11, 2009, at LaurelWood Care Center. Born May 16, 1923, in Johnstown, son of William F. and Gertrude (Wyar) Riley. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Ruth R. (Burkhardt) Riley; and daughter-in-law, Sharon (Potchak) Riley. Survived by sons: Ronald Riley; Gerald "Jerry," married to the former Diana Maurer; and Raymond, married to the former Renee Reighard, all of Johnstown; and Dennis, married to the former Kathy Majia of Franklin, Pa. Also survived by 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A brother of Dorothy Gillin, Johnstown; Florence, and husband, Thomas Williams, Johnstown; and Patrick Riley, married to the former Mary Zima, New York. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served as a 1st Infantry Scout with the 75th Infantry Division, and involved with the battles in the Rhineland "Battle of the Bulge," Ardennes and Central Europe. Awarded the Croix De Guerre, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars. Retired crane operator with 45 years of service for the Johnstown Works of U.S. Steel Corp. A member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, where funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, the Rev. Angelo Patty. Committal, Richland Mausoleum. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street.
