MAEDER, Clifford G. - Of Flint, age 83, died Thursday, October 13, 2005 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 11AM Monday, October 17, 2005 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 402 South Ballenger Highway in Flint, Pastor Roger R. Kilponen officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery with a military graveside service under the auspices of Clio VFW-Gordon Bennett Post. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. Visitation 5-8M Saturday and 1-8PM Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Mr. Maeder will be at the church from 10AM Monday until the time of the service. Clifford was born in Flint, Michigan on July 29, 1922, the son of the late Benjamin and Bertha (Huber) Maeder. He graduated from Northern High School in 1941. Cliff served in the Pacific during World War II as a scout in the 96th Infantry Division as Master Sergeant. After the war, he married Beatrice Hanson on May 18, 1946. They were married for 59 years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a member of the DAV and the Clio VFW. Mr. Maeder was employed at Buick Motor Division for 35 years as a Pipefitter-Skilled Trades and has been retired for the past 30 years. Surviving are wife, Beatrice J. Maeder; 3 children, David and wife Mary Maeder of Houghton Lake, Michigan, Nancy and husband Michael Vincent of Linden, Michigan and Douglas Maeder of Mt. Morris, Michigan; 4 grandchildren, Scott Maeder of Davison, Michigan, Brad Maeder of Knoxville, Tennessee, Heather (Vincent) and husband Jeremy Guc of Roseville, Michigan and Andrew Vincent of Linden, Michigan; sisters, Beatrice Konsza of Clio, Michigan, Norma and husband Bob Walsh of Flushing, Michigan; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sorry to here of Cliffords Passing. I enjoyed talking to him last year at my Grandpa's (Howard Grace)birthday party, he was telling me stories of being in the war and how his mother had to stand in for him at my fathers baptism, in 1940. Clifford was a true American Hero and we are proud that he was a member of our family You are all in our Prayers. Love Theresa,Marilyn and Denice Grace

I am sorry to hear of Cliff's passing he was a very nice person, I worked with Cliff many years ago in the Buick before we both went on skilled trades, the last time I saw Cliff was in Montrose at the Blueberry festival.
