Deepest condolences to the Wharton family, many, many friends as you fine comfort with you during this difficult time in your lives. Mr. Clifton R. Wharton Jr. was a former Michigan State University president and deputy secretary of state who broke racial barriers when he took the MSU post in 1970. May the love and the special memory you shared with your father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and other relatives show just how much your life was touched by him. We hope many of the encouraging words and thoughts on this site comforts you during this difficult time also. May Almighty God in the Heavens comfort your hearts with peace and loving kindness as you cope with this precious loss in your lives. Thank you for Mr. Clifton R. Wharton Jr.'s contribution to his community. He will be remembered and missed, but his contributions not forgotten. May family, friends and extended family cherish his memories.

So many fond memories of Clif and Dolores over the years, from the time Clif and Shelly were friends and colleagues at the Agricultural Development Council and the Population Council, respectively; to our winderful weekend visiting the Whartons in Cooperstown. Clif spoke at Shelly's memorial service in Caspery Auditorium at the RU in 2009 with such a touching tribute.
