Clifton Wilson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 31, 2024.
Clifton Coke Wilson, of Austin, TX passed away at the age of 65 on August 28, 2024. He was born on August 23, 1959, in Houston, TX to Margie Sue (Stauffer) Wilson and Horace Coke Wilson, Jr., the second of four children.

Cliff attended Texas Lutheran College in Seguin and The University of Texas at Austin and was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He suffered a traumatic brain injury at the age of 22 which changed the course of his life. He was married to Ruth Kirkpatrick with whom he had two children, Chelsea and Jeremy.

Clifton never met a stranger, had a delightful, dry sense of humor and a beautiful smile. He loved with all his heart and probably had the biggest heart in Texas. Fishing brought him great joy, whether in a mountain stream or off a pier or sailboat in the Gulf of Mexico. Fixing things was his super power inherited from his granddaddy, Horace Coke Wilson, Sr.

Cliff experienced chronic homelessness for over 10 years before moving to Community First Village where he found a loving and supportive community which allowed him to live a peaceful and secure existence for the last seven years of his life. His family would like to thank his Community First family for making all of this possible for him and so many people like him.

Please make memorials to the charity of your choice or to Community First! Village via Mobile Loaves & Fishes, 9301 Hog Eye Road, Suite 950, Austin, TX 78724 or the Colorado Symphony Association, 1000 14th St., #15, Denver, CO 80202.

Cliff was the sweetest-natured person. I have too many memories of him and have known him since he was two years old. He was a fabulous skier - - beautiful to watch -- and a natural athlete. I will always miss him. His Aunt Stevie
