Clinton Crackel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 15, 2024.
Clinton Edward "Clint" Crackel, 74, of Peoria, Arizona, passed away on December 1, 2024.

Clint is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 41 years, Michele (née Spina); his children Joshua, James (Angela), and Annette (née Unsworth and Cobley); grandchildren Cherokee, Cory, Brandon, Bailey, Abigail, Jakob, Ava, and Inge; great-granddaughter Selene; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ruth; his eldest son, Alexander (Alex); his brothers Lawrence, Robert, and Harold; and his sisters Eleanor Simpson and Frances Creed (née Crackel).

Born on August 18, 1950, Clint grew up in California and attended Central Union High School in El Centro and Brawley Union High School in Brawley, graduating in May 1968. A dedicated Boy Scout, he achieved the rank of Life Scout, earned 31 merit badges-including being the first in the Imperial Valley to receive the Atomic Energy Merit Badge-and was inducted into the Order of the Arrow.

Clint enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1968, serving until 1980. He continued his military service with the Arizona National Guard from 1981 to 1984 as Officer-in-Charge of Chemical Defense Training. His academic achievements included earning dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Occupational Education and Aviation Management from Southern Illinois University.

Clint's professional career spanned decades in nuclear energy and emergency management. He worked for the Arizona Radiation Regulatory Agency, Arizona Public Service Company at Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Retiring in 2020 after 36 years of federal service, he returned to Peoria with Michele.

Clint loved his family deeply and enjoyed traveling, singing, writing, heavy metal music, and volunteering with organizations such as the VFW, Wounded Warriors, and Ronald McDonald House. An avid foodie, he delighted in visiting restaurants featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives."

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 10:30 am. at Heritage Arrowhead Funeral Center, 7545 W. Rose Garden Lane, Glendale, AZ.
