Colette Tarsan (Petrillo) Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 26, 2024.
Colette Mary Tarsan (Petrillo) passed away peacefully in her home, with the sun shining, on March 22, 2024.

Colette was born to Anthony and Rita Petrillo on February 26, 1969. She graduated from Middlesex High School and continued her education at Katherine Gibbs School.

She went on to fulfill a long career as an Executive Assistant for Congressman Matthew Rinaldo, BellSouth and Metrus Group. She was most recently employed as a Senior Specialist of Compliance at Insmed. There, she was also the founder and chair of the employee resource group for working parents and caregivers.

Colette was treated at Memorial Sloan Kettering and despite her diagnosis, led a very bright, vivacious life. She most enjoyed crafting, jigsaw puzzles and traveling. Her favorite travel destination was Florence, Italy, where she visited her daughter during her semester studying abroad. Memories made with family and friends held a special place in Colette's heart.

Colette is predeceased by her father, Anthony (Sonny). She is survived by her mother, Rita, husband Mark, daughter Kayla, brother Carmen and his wife Michelle, niece Gabrielle, and many more loved ones.

Funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Virgin Church, 600 Harris Ave, Middlesex, NJ 08846, on Friday, April 12, 2024 beginning at 11am.

To honor Colette's lust for life, she requested that her friends and family gather in a celebration, which will be held at the American Legion Post 306, 707 Legion Place, Middlesex, NJ 08846, on Sunday, April 21, 2024 from 12pm to 4pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in memory of Colette. http://mskcc.convio.net/goto/ColetteTarsan

Colette was a wonderful person and colleague and became over the years also a good friend. I was so impressed how eager she was to learn new things and help other people. And she always helped and supported. We will miss you!

I've known Colette for 24 years. She was a special part of our family, spending Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve together, watching her raise Kayla from the adorable toddler to an amazing young woman. I will miss you and always remember the loving relationship between you and Mark. Rest easy.

Back in the day, before social media took over. Colette was my daughters first playmate. They would spend hours riding bikes, creative play, pool and so much more. She was even"godmother" to a dog we adopted. Colette was always kind and caring and patient.
I pray that you all can be comforted by her sweet memories.

Colette worked with me at Metrus Group for many years in her role as Executive Assistant. She always put her heart into her work and demanded excellence from all around her. She was one of the faster learners that I worked with and mastered a new profession--marketing master--tackling challenges that others avoided. She was always professional and also shared many loving stories of her family and her daughter Kayla. We and the many she touched will miss her.

The first time I met, Colette was in Atlantic City. I went with her cousin darlene and her dad. We met Colette for lunch and I have to say I liked her from the first start when she sat down and started to talk to me. I felt like I knew her forever.

The thing with spending decades living next door to people, is first they are your neighbors, then your friends, then your family. Our hearts are broken at losing Colette. She will always be loved and missed. Love the Chaparro's
