Hard to believe its 3 years already. Since you left us. You always had a big hello and welcome back home, when I seen you. You and your family also, was so nice to me. You were our Macho Man and are truley missed. Take care man. I will toast a Keiths now. In your honor.

It is with immense shock and saddest that I heard of Colin's passing. Colin was such a happy-go-lucky, dedicated, family man who was rarely seen without an animal or kid in tow. He was always smiling and having a chuckle at something. It goes without saying that Colin was taken from us much too early. Deepest condolences to all of Colin's family and friends. May fond memories of him give you comfort in the dark days ahead. God bless.

I didn't know him as well as I would have liked to, but the way in which he lived (and loved)his life commanded an immense sense of respect and admiration from me. He fished lobster, farmed (made tons of hay) worked in the woods, hunted, drove heavy duty equipment and yet had the time to donate his time as a volunteer fireman for numerous years. I remembered Colin back in the day when he drove that little red Chevette and his motorcycle days. Being that he was such a big WWF fan Colin was known as the Macho Man and Darlene was his Elizabeth. It was back in grade ten when him and Darlene were introduced to one another thanks to his mom Helen. They made the perfect couple. They were always the first ones out on the dance floor during any teen dance, especially if it was an Aerosmith song. Colin was the guy who always had your back and would give the shirt off his back if needed. Colin was a devoted father, husband, son and friend. To Helen, to his brothers, and especially Darlene and her family I give my deepest sympathy. Colin will be truly missed and Inverness will never be quite the same.

Colin always embodied the essence of kindness, joy and true friendship. It is a trait he held all through his life. I was always "welcomed home" while on vacation by Colin. It was like the conversation would pick up where it left off ~ On my last trip we met walking on the boardwalk and I was amazed at how his youngest son looked JUST like him! We discussed having a class reunion & we both agreed that busy lives & raising kids kept that plan from happening. Colin's kindness and genuine caring about others shone through in all he did! The quality I admired most was his love for Darlene, for his family and his community. Colin Shawn Basker was a salt of the Earth kind of fellow that was a special soul I was glad to have known. Thanks for your smiles, laughter, hugs and kind words & gestures over the years! May your presence be felt by all they heavy hearted you have left behind.
