Colleen Bennett Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 23, 2022.
Colleen Lee Bennett entered into eternal peace on October 15, 2022. Heaven's glorious gain is only tempered by our family's loss of our Prayer Warrior, Determined Fighter, and Living Example of how to live and love. Colleen would be the first to request prayers of peace for her immediate family, her husband Keith, children Christopher and Lindsey, and grandchildren, Gianna, Kaesun, and Bennett as they journey through the grief of the loss of their wife, mother, and Grammy.

Born Colleen Lee Wyatt on March 8, 1968, in Delaware County, PA to Cecil and Barbara Wyatt, Colleen grew up in PA, then moved to Gainesville, FL. Colleen loved volunteering, traveling to the mountains, watching the Florida Gators play football, and spending time with her grandkids. She valued her time with them more than anything in this world. Colleen will be remembered as a selfless, God-fearing woman who always had a smile, even when times were tough. Colleen fought long and hard for many years with Multiple Sclerosis. She never allowed her diagnosis to cause her to question her faith in God nor rob her of who she was; a strong, independent woman. She remained hopeful, strived to make friends with anybody, and always looked to a better future, to the very end of her earthly life. We celebrate that life! We are comforted by our confidence in her eternal destination.

She was preceded in death by her father Cecil B. Wyatt, and mother Barbara J. Barefield. Colleen is survived by her husband Keith Bennett of 26 years; son Christopher Bennett of Altoona, PA; daughter Lindsey Taylor of Pearl, MS; as well as several brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews, of the greater Gainesville area. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 27th, 2022 at 10:00 am at The Rock of Gainesville {Worship Center} 10901 W Newberry Road, Gainesville, FL 32606. In lieu of flowers, please help her kindness, loyalty, and compassion continue by making a donation to, or volunteering at, The High Springs Civic Center.
