Colleen,
You were not only my neighbor but you were my second mom. Getting the call that you had passed on broke my heart into a thousand pieces and now, one will never be put back. Throughout my life you have always been there for my mom, my sister, and myself. Having a second mom was the best thing for me growing up; if you were upset with one, you went to the other. I always looked forward to our summer nights on the porch. I will still have those night with you there in spirit. Alex will forever be my little brother and I will always be here for him. You are the greatest angel God has gained. I love you.

It is such a shock to say Colleen is gone. So many years of having her right next door to talk to and listen. There is a void that will never be filled. The love I and my girls have for her and her family is eternal. If you knew Colleen you were lucky but if she was your friend you are truly blessed. God has received a true angel.

Colleen ... what I want to write would take hours ... you'd be bored ...I picture us laughing together like we always could .. so easily but so sincerely ... I hope you are happy that I did what I promised you I would do ... the enormity of the tragedy will live on until we meet again .. the doctors and nurses did everything humanly possible .. and like we agreed .. God makes all the right decisions anyway ... I just wish it was you making these decisions for me instead .. I know you are in Dad and Mom's arms now .. we are actually all jealous .. give David and Mikey and Lauren big gushy hugs for me as only you knew how to give .. I will miss your daily phone call and you always checking on me .. I will forever care for Alex and try to help our grieving family and friends moving forward ... because like you always told me, that's your job Roy, if I go before you .. dear Sister .. my heart won't ever stop aching .. Always .. Roy

Memories of Colleen go back to my childhood of her visits to Akron with my Aunts Liz and Terri. And years and years of wonderful visits full of stories and a beer or two shared on back porch of Jancey St. Sharing the antics of our sons. My heart breaks for Alex and the Cook family. May God watch over you all.

Col -
Our world has turned completely upside down. I want to wake up from this nightmare to be able to breath again and return to our normal calm days. You meant the world to my kids, they loved you more than life itself - you became a surrogate Grandma to them - always there for every school event, every birthday, every holiday, every soccer game, every karate event, every Christmas concert, every year trick or treat walk around your neighborhood, every report card with a dollar for their good grades. You made their world a beautiful, loving, and warm place and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for that. This life will never be the same, the hole that remains in this family will be indefinite. You and I found an amazing friendship over these last several years, you were more than just a big sister you became my shoulder to lean on, an ear to listen, we found laughter in talking about family at present and from so many years ago - like how you knocked the crap out of me for sneaking your clothes and how I deserved it. You would say it may seem funny now but I wasn't laughing then Erin! I treasure the time I had with you since moving back to Pittsburgh six years ago, what hurts is - I wanted so much more. Please continue to guide and love my little family of four from a far, you will continue to be oh so present in our lives for the rest of our lives. Cindy and I will always be there for Alex through every life event, he will be more than okay he'll be phenomenal just like his Mom! I'll see you again Colleen on the other side, go enjoy paradise with Mom and Dad - I love you forever.

Colleen was the best friend anyone could have. She gave unselfishly of herself for anyone in need. She had a positive, uplifting nature. She loved her son beyond all measure and was so very proud of him. She also loved her family very much. I will miss our many talks and the way she could always lift my spirits when I was down in dumps. I don't know what I will ever do without her in my life. I know that God is rejoicing to have this special child of His back with him. I know she will watch over all of us. Alex, please remember that a mother's love NEVER dies. May God hold all of you in the palm of His hand and give you peace.
