Helen Emerzian

WAUKEGAN - Helen B. Emerzian, 79, of Waukegan, passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at her home. She was born August 18, 1933 in Racine, WI. She later met Jerry Emerzian from Waukegan and they were married. She moved to Waukegan in 1959. Helen was an active member of St. George Armenian Apostolic Church where she had sung in the choir and belonged to the Women's Guild. She also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary of Homer Dahringer Post 281. She was a loving mother and wife who always wanted to help and donate her time. She was very passionate about cooking and baking and used to teach night school in American and Middle Eastern cooking. Prior to her retirement, she had worked at Waukegan High School and the Waukegan Police Department. Helen is survived by her husband of fifty-four years, Jerry Emerzian; three children, Dr. Garo Emerzian, Nancy Ann Emerzian and Bryan Emerzian; her sister Mary Kalasian, sister-in-law Ann Akgulian, and four grandchildren, Elyse, Ara, Alexis, and Olivia Emerzian as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Helen will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 15, 2012 at St. George Armenian Apostolic Church, at 1015 McAree Rd., Waukegan, with Rev. Fr. Paren Galstyan officiating. Interment will be at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. to time of services.
