Concetta Resio

Concetta "Connie" (DiGiovanni) Resio, 93, of Old Forge, died Friday morning in the Scranton Health Care Center, where she had been a resident. She was the widow of John Resio, her husband of 59 years, who died on Sept. 23, 2005.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late Angelo and Josephine Micale DiGiovanni, she was a graduate of Girls Commercial High School of Brooklyn. In her early years, Connie worked at the Naval Yards in Brooklyn and, during World War II, was employed as a secretary at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Her last employment was at the Hillcrest Lampshade Factory in Old Forge. She was a parishioner of Prince of Peace Parish (St. Mary's Church), Old Forge, and belonged to its former Altar & Rosary Society. She also held membership in the American War Mothers.

Surviving are a daughter, Maria Walsh and husband, Timothy, of Silver Spring, Md.; two sons, John Resio, of Taylorsville, Utah; and Robert Resio and wife, Donna, of Old Forge; six grandchildren, Timothy Ryan Walsh; Robert Resio and wife, Nikkie; Gina Walker and husband, Jack; Christine Ceres and husband, Joshua; Janice Faerber and husband, Chris; and Kristel Resio; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, John, Joseph and Anthony DiGiovanni.

The funeral will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the Victor M. Ferri Funeral Home, Robert J. Gillette, funeral director, 522 Fallon St., Old Forge, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 in St. Mary of the Assumption Church at Prince of Peace Parish, West Grace St., Old Forge, to be celebrated by the Rev. August A. Ricciardi, pastor. Interment services will follow in Old Forge Cemetery.
