Connie Aaker Cannon, 84, Grand Forks, ND died Tuesday in Valley Memorial Home Woodside Village, Grand Forks.
Connie A. Maristuen was born February 13, 1920 in Northwood, ND the daughter of Andrew and Mary (Berg) Maristuen. She moved with her family to Grand Forks at the age of three. She graduated from Central High School and attended Aaker's Business College. Connie married Harlan Aaker on November 22, 1941 in Grand Forks. She provided in home child care for people in the area. She married Paul Cannon on January 5, 1984 in Grand Forks. He died January 12, 1992. Connie enjoyed her grandchildren and children in general. She also loved music and cooking and baking. Survivors include: Sons: Jon (Terry) Aaker, Grand Forks; Tommy Aaker, Grand Forks; Lanny Aaker, Grand Forks. Daughter: Conni Jo Dostal, East Grand Forks, MN. 16 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren. Sisters: Diana Rukke, Tacoma, WA; Freda Johnson, Orange County, CA. She was preceded in death by her son, LeRoy Aaker; by brothers, Ole and Andrew jr; and by sisters, Mabel Miller, Alice Forness, Pearl Mankie, Arliss Walker, Olive Engel, Margie Maristuen and Sophie Peterson. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 13, 2004 in Bethel Lutheran Church of Grand Forks, ND Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service in Amundson Funeral Home of Grand Forks. Visitation will continue for the hour before the service in the church. Burial will be in Sunnywood Gardens Cemetery of Grand Forks.
