Constance Dahl Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 28, 2025.
Constance Dahl, 81, of Glastonbury, passed away on October 30th, 2024. Her final years were spent peacefully in Salmon Brook nursing home.

Born on March 21,1943 in Salem, MA, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Lillian (Coan) Akerley. She grew up in Beverly, Massachusetts, where she loved going to the beach after school with her best friend, Judy. She attended UMass Amherst, where she would meet her husband, Albert Dahl, Jr. After working in the insurance industry for Aetna and Cigna for many years, she became a postal employee at the East Glastonbury Post Office for nearly 20 years. She loved interacting with all the people in town, and everybody knew her by her trademark hat.

After college, she and Albert moved to Connecticut and enjoyed an active social life that included tennis, bowling, and riding bikes. She also became a very enthusiastic member of St. James Church. Later on, she remained active in the church choir, enjoyed attending bible study every Saturday morning, and did a lot of volunteer work with the church. She was also a proud and regular blood donor, and she loved to walk the neighbor's dog 2 miles around the block every day. She always possessed a benevolent attitude and was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed one without a moment's hesitation.

She is survived by her son Eric, her daughter-in-law Kathryn, and her grandchildren, Lillian and Luka of Avon, Connecticut. She is also survived by her beloved niece Cherlyn, of Loveland, Colorado. She was predeceased by her cherished husband Albert Dahl Jr. who passed in 2020, and her brother Robert Akerley of Albuquerque, NM, who passed in 2016.

She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and the most loyal and reliable friend anyone could ask for. Her heart and spirit overflowed with generosity, kindness, and altruism.

A joint Celebration of Life for both Connie and Albert will be held on Saturday, June 14th, 2025, at 10:30 am at St. James Episcopal Church, 2584 Main St., Glastonbury, CT 06033.

Connie worked with me for many years at the East Glastonbury Post Office, and I also met Al and Eric. She was always very helpful, and I contributed a hat to her collection. We always had a "fudge cake" celebration every year on her birthday. Connie, I will miss you!

Connie you showed up for every single event that Glastonbury Interfaith presented.
You were always smiling. You are a true example of a Christian Woman.
Rest in peace.
