FOLEY CONSTANCE "CONNIE"
88, went home to be with the Lord on December 18. At the time of her death, she was living in Lawrenceville, GA, but lived most of her life in West View and Ross Township. Born in 1920 to Winifred and John Brunner, Connie was the fifth of six children and was a bright student, finishing as the valedictorian of her St. Benedict High School class. Although she earned a full scholarship to college, the Great Depression required her to go to work to help the family. That Divine intervention kept her in Pittsburgh where she met, fell in love with and married her husband of 53 years, Gilford Foley of Pittsburgh. Together they raised six children, sharing a special bond and love for one another that saw them through all of life's trials. The heartbreak of her life was losing Gil in 1993. Always a giving couple, Connie and Gil opened their door on Rochester Road as a temporary home to many relatives and friends over the years. It was a place filled with love, laughter and good cheer. Connie was active in many North Hills organizations over the years, including The Ingomar Garden Club, North Hills Genealogical Society, Mothers Plus 5 and was also active in Square Dancing. She and Gil were active members of St. Athanasius Church in West View and later Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church on the North Side. They led many church groups and served as catechists spreading the Good News to the youth of the church. In addition to Gil and her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters Mary Winifred, Dorothy (Stein), Mary Lou (Fuchs) and Jeanne (Kielmann). The living who mourn her loss include her six children and their spouses: Dennis and Kathy Foley of Novato, CA; Wayne and Sue Ellen Foley of Roswell, GA, Nora and Bill Archambault of Charlottesville, VA; Maureen and Neil Robertson of Suwanee, GA; Brendan and Amy Foley of Cleveland, TN and Patrick and Celeste Foley of Cranberry Township. She is also survived by her loving brother and his wife, Arthur and Marion Brunner of Bowie, MD. Also mourning the loss are 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, countless nieces and nephews and all those she touched with her loving manner and infectious laugh. A graveside service is arranged by DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME at Allegheny Memorial Park at 11:00 AM on Saturday December 20. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Connie's name to the American Diabetes Association.
