Two years have passed in the blink of an eye since we lost Constantin. The world has changed, we have changed. I am not sure Constantin would have liked it. He loved to travel between his two countries, Romania and USA and all around the world, to meet fellow teachers and researchers. He traveled till the last weeks of his life.
We still miss our brother and uncle, we remember his determination and we are grateful for his legacy. We are glad that he could make his last trip, to rest in peace in his homeland, close to us. Special thanks to Raluca, who' s help made that easier and was there for him in his last days. Also to Mehran, Li and Dragan family, thank you for being there when we couldn't. God bless you and us all !

On the 26th of december we will commemorate one year since our beloved brother and uncle , Constantin Corduneanu, is no longer with us. He had the character of a leader: in the family, in the community and at work. One could surely learn something by listening to what he had to say, always ready to share his knowledge.
We are gratefull to all the friends and collegues who commemorated him at the romanian orthodox parish St. Mary, Dallas, TX. We did our best here, in his hometown in Romania.
May his soul find the eternal peace and his memory be a source of strenght and light in our tghouts !

I was privileged to know Professor Corduneanu both personally and as his UTA student - he was generous and kindhearted, and an inspiration for many mathematicians and engineers who took his courses or read his excellent books. He will be missed, not least for his sense of humor, contagious joie-de-vivre, being a friend of the humble, and putting Iasi on the map for Americans and Arlington on the map for Romanians. May he rest in peace. Dumnezeu sa-l ierte.

Asta era Tocu, cat am putut sa-l cunosc eu intr-o saptamana.
Dumnezeu sa-l odihneasca in pace!

I met him in late fall of 2017. He was a merry, spirited moldavian, a skilled talker, scolastic and yet colloquial. He had extraordinary stories from another time, but he was very connected to the present state of things as well. One could envy that.
He represented the connection with a world i wished i lived in.
He always had an answer for everything.
That was Tocu, as much as i could get to know him in one week.
May God rest his soul!

Constantin Corduneanu is among the few emigrant professors who have stayed close to colleagues and students in his country as well as to those from abroad, where he settled (Texas, USA); who have distinguished themselves and succeeded professionally both in his country and in the Western World. The admiration (and warmth) hold for him by those who have known him, is impressive. Mathematicians lost a respected professor or colleague who guided and supported them. The Romanian-American Academy of Arts and Sciences has lost a wise leader, and we all, those involved in the organization, participation or support of ARA activities at the 41 Sinaia and 42 Iasi congresses under acad. dr. prof. Corduneanu, we lost an honest man, a caring human being, passionate about high quality of achievements and publications; a beautiful man.

I received with great sadness the news that Professor Constantin Corduneanu, Honorary Editor of Libertas Mathematica (new series), Founder and Editor of Libertas Mathematica from 1981 until 2011, passed away.
An issue of volume 38(2018) of Libertas Mathematica (new series) was dedicated to Professor Constantin Corduneanu in celebration of his 90th birthday as a recognition of his outstanding contributions to mathematical research, for his interest and constant support for publishing the new series of the journal that he founded. See http://system.lm-ns.org/index.php/lm-ns/issue/view/118
I met him for the first time at the University of Florence in 1986, and he impressed me with kindness, generosity, devotion to the causes in which he believed. He has done Mathematics until the last few moments, and has been enormously involved in bringing the American Romanian Academy of Sciences and Arts (ARA) back to the appropriate parameters of an academic institution and stopping its degradation of recent years.
My gratitude for trusting me in the re-launch of Libertas Mathematica in the new international context and for his permanent support, including financial, as the magazine needs to self-finance. As far as I know, he was pleased with the evolution of the journal and its contribution to the promotion of Romanian mathematics.
We will miss him very much!
