Uncle,
you have been gone a year already! What a long year it has been! I have longed to call you, hear your voice and share the voices of my little ones with you. Perhaps you are seated amongst so many of those who proceeded you and were loved by all of us still here. Yet, I miss sitting on the floor by your chair listening to your tales of the past. I miss our jokes, our cooking, our having fun with friends. I miss the gentle look in your eyes and the fatherly loving words "paidi mou" (my child)uttered so many times, as you bid me good-bye after my wedding and told my husband to take care of me. Oh, how I miss you!
May the Lord keep you safe in His care. I pray that you have found peace in your heart. S' agapo patera ( I love you father).
All my love,
Bethena

It's been a long time since Gus and I attended first grade together. He was the godfather of my son Steve McKinney. I spent more time with him in the delivery room when one of his kids was born, than I did with all lthree of my own
I haven't had much of a connection with him in recent years. Reest in peace old friend. Doug McKinney

My deepest condolences to all who mourn the loss of "our" Gus Poulos.
May we all try to lead a full life as he did and continue to feel young in our last hours.
Gus was a true patriot, honoring both the country he was born in, as well as the country of his ancestors.
He was very talented, creating beautiful pieces of art, as well as an eloquent writer. Gus was also an excellent educator.
Gus was a role model for me in the years of my College Education in the U.S. He offered me an interesting insight into WWII history which facinated me and we spent endless hours discussing political and historical issues. I believe he contributed not only to my education, but helped make me the educator I am today.
We enjoyed watching films together and frequently enjoyed each others company at Greek restaurants and festivals in Sacramento.
I also enjoyed his company in many of his visits to Greece.
Gus will not only be remembered by me and my family, he will live on in my heart and mind, for he is more than a relative to me. Gus was my uncle, my mentor, my friend.
I hope that his soul now rests among his parents and brother, in the arms of the loving Lord.
God Bless my dear cousins and ease the pain of your loss.
Much love to all of you from my family to yours.
