Corey Mahan Obituary
Corey was kind, gentle, had a big heart, and had a great sense of humor. He was a talented artist, a fantastic cook, and the #1 fan of Selena Quintanilla. He also enjoyed listening to Country music. Corey loved living by the beach, taking long walks, and dreamt of attending culinary art school to become a chef. He adored kids and often spoke of starting a family of his own.
After graduating from Richard King High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, Corey explored different Culinary Art Schools. Corey was also a well known artist in his community. After a lot of hard work and exploring different avenues in life, he then went on to work as a property manager in San Antonio, Texas. His passion for the ocean and travel later led him to Tampa, Florida, where he continued to pursue his dreams.
Corey is preceded in death by his grandmother and grandfather who raised him, Janie U. Vega and Tomas Vega, his Aunt Elizabeth Stephanie Montez, and his Uncle Desi Montez, who was like a father figure to him.
He is survived by his Aunt, who also helped raise him and he also called "Mom", Janie Montez, his mother Elvira (Steve) Montez Oberg, three brothers: Charlie Mahan, Christopher Mahan, David (Joslin) Elizondo, and cousin Brianna Del Alto, who was more like a sister to him. He was a proud Uncle to all his nephews and nieces as well as numerous other loving family members.
A Private Celebration of Life Event with close family and friends will be held to honor Corey on June 15, 2024 in Corpus Christi, Texas. The services will be led by Reverend Dana Worsham of St. Paul United Church of Christ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi in memory of Corey.
Rest in peace, Corey. Your light will forever shine in the hearts of those who knew and loved you.

I have so many questions but I will always remember that last day with you riding on the scooters and you saying to me baby it's so beautiful out here and I love that we get to do new things we have never gotten to do together!!! Corey I will always love you like you said so many times to me you and I are the forever! I miss you so much baby and I will see you again someday! There is a memorial wall in Tampa that is at a beautiful church that your name will be placed on I spoke to the minister there and he said it would be his honor to do that for you!
