Mr. Corey Rhodes, Our dear nephew, a young man of wisdom was bold, out spoken, funny, and most of all, showed love toward his family and friends. March 4th was the day his heavenly father called him home. God placed Corey in our lives to teach us to March forth toward peace, toward boldness, toward victory, toward showing love for each other, and most importantly of all, March forth toward our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, for He has the greatest reward of all. We can only learn from the past, hope for the future, and live each moment as though it's our last. 1 John 4:4

Diane, James and Sean, in the words of the African Religious Philosopher John S. Mbiti, "as long as our loves ones can or will be remembered by those of us whom they leave behind, they will continue to live on". Corey's wonder smile will forever encourage us, his embrace that we shared from him will be God's continuous embracing us from heaven because he was and still is in our lives and will continue to be with us, in that we were connected then and will always be connected, because he lives on through us. I thank God for sending us a wonder nephew through his parent James and Diane. Please, stay encouraged and know that Corey lives on as long as we remember him, because, everytime we think about those times that we got together for church celebrations, family celebrations, etc., he will always be with us.

God bless you Diane, James and Sean as you seek to give yourselves completely to Him, as he has already given himself completely to us through his son Jesus Christ.

April 7, 2008

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Dear James, Diane and Sean:

Our thoughts are with you as you mourn your loss and celebrate Corey's remarkable life.
Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel for your loss. We are thinking of you and your family during this difficult time.
May your hearts and souls find peace and comfort knowing that Corey touched the lives of so many others, and gave them the gift of many happy memories
May the love shared comfort you now and in the days ahead.

When it seems that our sorrow is too great to be borne,
let us think of the great family of the heavy-hearted into which our grief has given us enterance, and inevitable,
we will feel about us,
their arms and their understanding.

Corey,

I know you are looking down on your family saying; "don't weep long for me, because it's just my body that's separated from you all, i'm still there in spirit (my real self). You can't touch me but you can sense me; and if you can only see what I see and feel what I feel, you wouldn't mourn over me but rejoice with me." Thank you for the lasting impartations you have deposited into this family. Heaven just wanted to experience what we have experienced. For we know, that you are a definite asset to the kingdom. Just don't be too hard on those angels.
We love and miss you!

Dear Alice and Cynthia

It seems that death continues to bring us together. It was J.W.'s death that brought me into your family and now Corey's. We don't know the thoughts of God but we do know that He is in control. He is sovereign and He promises to be with us. So look to God for your strength. David said I sought Him in my distress and he answered me. I know for He has been with me with Hugh's death.

O.L. and Phyl are praying with you for your strength.
