Corey William Stewart, 49, of Merced, California, passed away on June 24, 2023, in his hometown. Corey, known affectionately by his preferred name, Corey, was born on August 23, 1973, in Merced, California. He was a beloved son, brother, partner, and friend.

Corey was a kind-hearted individual who had a passion for sports and movies. He possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of both subjects and was always eager to share his insights. With his leadership skills, Corey excelled in managerial roles throughout his career. He managed at Game Stop, Hollywood Video, and Walmart, leaving a lasting impact on those he worked with.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Corey found great joy in soccer. He not only loved the sport but also coached numerous teams over the years, inspiring and mentoring young athletes. Corey's competitive spirit extended beyond the field, as he consistently outshined his family members in games of Trivial Pursuit.

Corey's warm and caring nature endeared him to those around him. He is survived by his father, Randy Stewart, of Merced, as well as his brother, Shawn Stewart, and sister, Dawn Ray, and her husband, Timothy Ray, all residing in Merced. Corey's partner and best friend, Sammy Garcia, stood by his side through thick and thin. He also leaves behind two nieces and two nephews: Amanda Cross and her four children, Rylee, Max, Zoey, and Dax, along with Brandy Cross, Adam Cross, Allen Cross and his wife, Maricela Cross, and their three children, Hunter, Layla, and Selena.

Corey is preceded in death by his mother, Andrea Stewart whom he has now joined in Heaven. While his passing leaves a void in the hearts of his loved ones, they find solace in the memories they shared with him.

In his leisure time, Corey indulged in his love for sports, particularly soccer. He also had an extensive collection of movies and games, which he cherished dearly.

A private family service will be held to honor Corey's life and his impact on those who knew him. The details of the ceremony will be shared exclusively with the family.
