1923 ~ 2015
Our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Corinne Godbe Miles, returned home to our Heavenly Father on November 16, 2015 at her home in Salt Lake City, Utah. She passed away of natural causes.
Corinne was born to Murray and Ruth Godbe on November 30, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Corinne graduated from East High then went on to the University of Utah where she met her husband, Edwin Ruthven Miles, IV. They were married in Pittsburg, Kansas and then sealed in the Salt Lake Temple six months later when he returned from serving in World War II. She graduated from college on the same day that their oldest child, Christine, graduated from Anaheim High School.
Corinne accomplished much during her life. Corinne taught the gospel doctrine class in church for 14 years, was a seminary teacher, and an Institute Instructor at Westminster College and Salt Lake Community College. She served in every available ward and stake position available to women in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served as a member of the Utah State Women's Legislative Council, the University of Utah Alumni Class Vice President, Republican Party District Vice Chairman, American Contemporary Theatre Board of Directors, Trustee of the Brigham Young Family Association, National Director of Educational Services for Odyssey House, and Director of the Osmond Foundation. She and her husband established many tutoring schools in Utah. She was honored with the "Utah Woman of the Year" award by the Deseret News. One of her most notable accomplishments was her involvement in genealogy research-submitting thousands and thousands of names to the LDS church. Recently the University of Utah requested her written history for the 20th Century Women's Legacy Archive that was contained in over 200 volumes. She and her husband established tutoring schools in Utah. She was honored with the "Utah Woman of the Year" award by the Deseret News.
Corinne is survived by her ten children; Christine Nelson, David Miles, Ann Reynolds, Michelle Richards, Rick Miles, Scott Miles, Kathy Miles, John Miles, Karen Densley, and Debi Aguirre along with 189 additional direct descendants. Corinne was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin R. Miles IV, two grandchildren, Johnny Cone and Jason Miles, and a great grandchild, Elizabeth May Nelson
A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 12:00pm at the LDS Chapel located at 2895 East Creek Road, Sandy, Utah, (84093)--with a viewing from 10:00 to 11:45. Interment will be at the Mountain View Memorial Cemetery. Condolence may be sent to the family at www.mountainviewmortuary.com.

Corinne Miles (she will always be Sister Miles to me) was a wonderful lady who I remember fondly. I loved her as my Seminary teacher. Your family means a lot to me. My prayers are with you all. Brenda McCurdy Davidson

Grandma, I love you so much. I miss you already but I am so glad to know that you are in a much better place and reunited with Grandpa. You accomplished so much in your life with your never-ending energy. You were an eternal optimist. Every time I stopped by to visit, you would open the door and your entire face would light up. You always made me feel like the most important person in your world. I will always fondly remember our trips to Dan's Grocery Store. I would stay by your side while we shopped for groceries and you would always buy me a hand scooped ice cream cone before we left. You taught me that I could become whatever I wanted to be as long as I put my mind to it. Thank you so much for your love. I am so grateful to be your grand daughter. I love you.
