Cornelia Mintz Gainey

Cornelia Mintz Gainey, age 97 of Leland, NC. The daughter of the late Melvin and Harriet Mintz, passed away on July 31, 2014.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Paul M. Gainey, and her daughter, Paulette G. McClelland. She is also preceded in death by 1 grandson; 3 granddaughters, and 3 sisters, Sarah Mintz, Annie Sullivan and Geneva Benton, all of Leland, NC.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, two daughters; Harriet Gainey of Whiteville, NC and Sandra G. Batson and her husband, Tim of Wilmington, NC; two grandsons, Sherman Skipper of Whiteville, NC and Robert McClelland, Jr. of Leland, NC; four granddaughters, Christi Barrett (husband, Bob), Suzzanne McClelland of Leland, NC, Sharon Strickland (husband, Bradley) of Cerro Gordo, NC and Shannon Pollard(husband, Matt) of Rocky Point, NC; 11 great grandchildren, Nicole, Andrea, Brandon, Holly, Samantha, Justin, Caitlyn, Alicia, Sarah, Jennifer and Jackson and 2 great great grandsons, Daniel and Lucas and 1 great- great granddaughter, Madison along with many nieces and nephews.

Family night will be held from 4:00pm to 5:00pm on Sunday August 3, 2014 at Coble ward-Smith Funeral Service, 3915 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC. 28403.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday August 5, 2014 at Gainey Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at 7435 Dunbar Rd, Wilmington, NC 28411.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to Lower Cape Fear Hospice.

The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to Elizabeth Burgess and Robin Funderburke for their amazing care given to our mother.
