You were many generations away from me Ome Kees, but I remember your visit to us in Opunake, New Zealand. You have moved on now, enjoy the many souls you will be meeting up with again.

GROOT. - Reverend Cornelius 'Con' Petrus Father Groot was ordained as a Salesian priest in Hong Kong in 1951 and arrived in the Archdiocese of Melbourne in 1963. Father Groot has served the Church as a missionary and parish priest bringing his prayerful joy and priestly witness to all. Father Groot was Assistant Priest at the Parishes of Reservoir, Belmont, Kilmore, West Melbourne, Bacchus Marsh and Kyneton. He then administered in South Africa between 1972 and 1983. Father Groot was then appointed Parish Priest at Trentham Parish. He was appointed Pastor Emeritus in 1994 and retired to Hepburn Springs where he quietly lived before moving to Justin Villa in 2012. After a short illness Father Groot died peacefully at Caritas Christi, Kew. May he rest in peace - Priests' Retirement Foundation. 'Caring for those who cared'
