I considered Neil as a brother in terms of a shared sense of call to serve others, intellectual curiosity and being born within a couple of weeks of each other. He was always warm and ready with a smile while having a keen awareness and revulsion of social injustice.

Neil served as an elder in Rockville United Church while his beloved wife, Adrienne, served as a Parish Associate and Program Director of Community Ministries of Rockville. I was privileged to serve as pastor and executive director of these institutions that were significantly empowered by their presence and contributions.

Upon hearing that Neil was preaching his first sermon as an interim pastor in a church outside Burlington, my wife Dianne and I came as a surprise to hear him. The United Church of Christ was wise in recognizing his credentials as a Maryknoll priest and fortunate to have him serve as a UCC pastor.

Neil was a proud and knowledgeable Irishman complete with a wry sense of humor and humility. He was devoted to and very proud of his beloved wife and children, grandchildren and extended family. I pray their fond memories, abiding faith and eternal love will grant them comfort and strength.

Our world has lost a wonderful man who leaves the communities in which he lived more compassionate, just and resilient. I believe Neil has transitioned into the realm of love from which he was born, and it is our privilege to sustain his legacy by embracing everyone as a sister and brother, and creating more beloved communities.

Neil was one of the kindest people I ever knew. I was fortunate to work with him. May light perpetual shine upon him, and grant him God's peace. Amen.

Neil and Adrianne spent the year 2017-2018 serving our church in Underhill,VT
as our interim people. Neil helped us one month with a Chinese song we did with singing and bells. He also did a fantastic job taking people's photographs for our church book and Christmas tree ornaments. We are sad to hear of his
passing and offer our condolences to Adrianne and family.

Neil was a gentle giant and remarkable person, so loved and welcomed by many. He has traveled up the road to his Irish ancestors, as it rises to meet and greet him. Blessings and thoughts go with Adri, young Neil, Susan, and Cathleen, aka Adrianne jr., and his 5 grandchildren.

Rev Neil Carr was a magnet for those in vunerable in need in the community at First Congregational United Church Of Christ/Burlington. His quiet, gentle, priest like manner made them feel welcome and safe. They always found a seat at the table with him or in the pew. I will always remember him this way. "Well Done Good And Faithful Servant". Donna Lee
