Cossetta Williams Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 10, 2025.
Cossetta D. Honoré Williams was born November 9, 1948, in Pineville, Louisiana to Matthew and Mary Honoré. She was the oldest of five children. She was raised in a warm, close-knit family surrounded by her parents, grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins and siblings. Through this bond, she was nurtured with love and taught the importance of kindness and compassion. At an early age, she learned to care deeply for family and others- especially the elders in her community.

Her spiritual foundation in Christ began at St. Mary's African Methodist Episcopal Church where she was baptized at an early age. Her steadfast faith in Christ remained a beacon of light throughout her lifetime. Just like her grandmother, Abbie Napoleon, her passion for Christ and willingness to serve others became her calling in life. As a beloved member of Carter Metropolitan Christian Methodist Episcopal Church for over forty-six years, Cossetta was active in the Missionary and Stewardess ministries and served as an Annual Conference Stewardess and Connectional Delegate for General Conference representing the 8th Episcopal District.

Cossetta was a proud graduate of Mary E. Graham High School and shortly there after, she married the love of her life of fifty-nine years, Herschel Williams, to this union, four sons were born. For twenty of those years, she supported her husband's career in the United States Air Force. Together, they raised a loving family, and she devoted herself to nurturing their kids and instilling the importance of faith and family. As a result of her devoutness to her children, they were affectionately called "Cossetta and Her Boys". Her love for family and others was always present during every holiday gathering, where her home cooking brought everyone together and created cherished memories full of love, laughter and an appreciation for staying connected as a family.

Once their children were older, she entered the workforce with faith and determination. Over the years, she built a career marked by dedication and excellence. She worked at Montgomery Wards, The Federal Bureau of Records and ultimately retired from Radio Shack Corporation after 25 years as a trusted and well-respected bookkeeper.

Cossetta's legacy will always be remembered by her unconditional love, nurturing spirit and willingness to serve others. She loved the Lord, her family, church, community and the countless friendships that she forged during her lifetime. She never met a stranger and loved to share with anyone within earshot just how good the Lord had been in her life! Her presence was a source of comfort and joy that will be truly missed. She had a gift for making ordinary moments feel extraordinary whether it was a warm hug, heartfelt prayer or encouraging word, mom believed in the power of prayer and faith.

Mom received her crown of eternal life on the morning of August 29, 2025, at the age of 76. She is preceded in death by her parents (Matthew and Mary Honoré), grandmother (Abbie Napoleon), aunts ( Julia Ruth Spottsville) and (Geneva Mallard Curry) and uncles (William C. Spottsville) and (Henry R Mallard Sr.).

Cossetta leaves a legacy deeply rooted in faith, family and love. She is survived by her husband (Herschel); Four sons: Karlos; Tony (Britney) and their children (Christian, Seth, Mackenzie and Isabelle); Eric and his children (Katelyn, Dylan and Brayden); and Corwin (Melissa); Four siblings: Beverly H. Dunn; Alton (Lisa) Honoré; Janice M. Honoré; and Elghin Honoré; three sisters-in-law, Zenaida Williams, Ellon Williams and Marlene Williams; host of cousins, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors and the Carter Metropolitan Christian Methodist Episcopal Church Family.

Her life was a testament to resilience, compassion and unwavering devotion. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit continues to inspire and guide all who were blessed to know her.

Sincere condolences to Bro. Herschel Williams, Bro. Tony, Sis. Britney, Mackenzie, Sis. Beverly Dunn, and the entire Williams family.
Mama Cossetta my mother in Christ, my spiritual mentor, and my dear friend. She was faithful in ALL she did-for others and for Christ. What an example she set for us all. I write with full assurance that she is now resting in the arms of our Savior. Though we deeply mourn the loss of her physical presence, I take comfort in the powerful legacy she leaves behind. Her love, influence, kindness, and unwavering faith will always be etched in my heart. I am both thankful and grateful that you shared her with me.

I will always remember the kindness and warm spirit had Cozett shown to me when as a freshman in college meeting me at the bus station in Alexandria and bringing me to Uncle Mathis and Aunt Mary´s for the pecan festival. Always with a friendly spirit and positive words to offer. On behalf of the Curry family to the Williams and Honore family, you have our deepest condolences. And be encouraged in knowing that God is faithful and He does not make mistakes. Much love to you all.
