GASTONIA - Coy R. Postell, 68, passed away Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at his residence.
He was born June 26, 1943, in Andrews, N.C., the son of the late Samuel Alex and Alma West Postell.
Mr. Postell was a self-employed landscaper with Postell's Landscaping since 1982. He frequently volunteered for mission trips through the North Carolina Baptist Men's Association which took him to the foreign mission field as well as at home. He also enjoyed and had a passion for helping others by building handicap ramps for many in the community.
He is survived his wife of 48 years, JoAnn Welch Postell of the home; son, Danny Postell and wife Heidi; daughter, Karen Postell King and husband Jeff; granddaughters, Alicia King Pham and husband Van, Amanda, Abbie, and Karie Postell; grandsons, Wesley King and wife Ashley, Michael Postell; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn; sisters, Vivian McMahan and husband James, Carolyn Rumbley and husband Ken, Sheila Grant and husband Gary, Marlene Johnson, Darlene Wilson and husband Tommy; brothers, Roy Postell and wife Doris, J.C. Postell and wife Vickie, Ricky Postell and wife Viola.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Friendship Baptist Church, 5008 South New Hope Rd., Belmont.
The funeral service will be held 2:30pm Tuesday at the church, officiated by Revs. Tracey Mull and Lynwood Lavinder.
Interment will be in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to N.C. Baptist Men's Disaster Relief Fund, P.O. Box 1107, Cary, NC 27512-1107.
Arrangements are with Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel, Gastonia.

joann i am so sorry for your loss.coy was one of the most wonderful person i have ever met. from the day he started and built my barn. he was always there to help me. he i will miss him but i know he is at peace. i will keep u and your family in my prayers.
