Craig Cannon Obituary

Memorial services for Craig W. Cannon, age 93, of Diana, formerly of Lindale, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home chapel in Lindale with the Rev. Everett Nix officiating.

Mr. Cannon was born Feb. 2, 1918, in Silver Creek, Neb., the son of the late Clyde William and Hulda (Ruff) Cannon. He worked his entire professional career for Allis Chalmers Manufacturing Co. in its main office in West Allis, Wis., and then in LaPorte, Ind. After retirement he built and operated a portable sawmill in LaPorte, Ind., until he moved to Lindale in 2000 to live with his son. He was an avid gardener, machinist and raised Hampshire sheep. He built his own spinning wheels and looms and dyed his own wool. Mr. Cannon was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church of Lindale.

He is survived by his daughter, Sally Loehrer and husband Peter of Diana; son, Dr. Thomas Cannon and wife Viviann of Lindale; his granddaughter, Jolene Rogers and husband Russell of Diana; his brother, Ted Cannon of Silver Creek, Neb.; and 15 nieces and nephews, most of whom live in Nebraska and Texas.

Mr. Cannon was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine, in 1998, and his oldest son, Craig Woodrow Cannon, also in 1998.

Memorials may be made to the Bethesda Presbyterian Church.
